Stir Crazy!

On Tuesday my 12 year old and 7 year old tested positive for influenza B--it has been a lonnnnng week! The past two day they have been well enough to fight and annoy each other, but too sick for school. Dear hubby came down with it last night. 1 sick husband=2 sick kids. Tell me you get this equation. Today I did bake these yummy bars--a recipe from my childhood.

Italian Cinnamon Bars
cream together:
1/2 C. butter
3/4 C. sugar
1 egg
2/3 C. sour milk (milk with 1 tsp. vinegar or lemon juice in it)
Add:
1 1/2 C. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Optional:
1/2 C. chopped nuts
1/2 C. raisins

Mix together. Pour into greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and top with 3/8 C. melted butter and then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Enjoy!

  3. I can understand the feeling of being stir crazy. I had to break down my front door and step outside to start doing things again. It is finally warming up so it is great going out.
I enjoyed your blog, it is very relaxing. Have a nice weekend.

  5. So sorry to think of you with 2 sick little guy AND a sick husband. That doesn't equal anything except misery on your day! Do us mommas ever get babied and does someone make cinnamon treats for us. Yes, but only if you are lucky enough to have your mom living nearby! Keep the hand sanitizer close! Hope they get better soon. And you stay well!

  7. Oh yummy, those cinnamon bars look delicious and I can imagine they smelled amazing while they were baking!
My children both tested positive for Flu A - but thank goodness it stopped there. After several days out of school and high fevers, we are on the mend. :o) Most children are coming back to the doctor with ear infections and even phnemonia (sp?).
