12 Days of Christmas Kick-Off With Peace on Earth

If you have been around my blog for awhile, you know that every holiday season I share 12 Days of Christmas with you.

Previously, I started this in December or at least post Thanksgiving because I DO KNOW there is still another lovely holiday between Halloween and Christmas.  BUT, I realized these past few years that if YOU, yes YOU want to make your own projects, which is my hope, then I need to show you the projects in November so you can git 'er done.

So, this year I will continue that trend and start sharing 12 days of fun and fantastic projects this week.  To kick it all off, I thought I would show a quick non-12 Days of Christmas project, a Peace on Earth sign.

I hand lettered this on a lovely piece of reclaimed wood.

I use chalk to "sketch it out" and then white glossy paint to paint it.  I finished it with coconut oil, which darkened the wood to lovely sheen.

Keep your eyes open this week for my first 12 Days of Christmas post.  Will it include bad rhymes as it has in the past?  We will see?

  1. I love this sign....first, I work on a strict budget so I hand letter all my signs....and second, I love the use of the plain wood. I actually went "dumpster diving" behind a cabinet shop where a family friend works, and found a piece that looks alot like this....so, you have given me a wonderful idea! This is beautiful and thanks!

  4. Becky, when you say coconut oil, do you mean food grade? I kinda hope you do because that would be easy to try. Looking forward to your 12 days of Christmas & your silly poetry. Hugs from your Washington fan.
