Project Challenge: Metal

Hello and happy Friday and welcome to another Project Challenge.
This month's challenge was metal--sheet or corrugated.

Before and Afters

That moment when you realize you do not have any furniture to paint...yep, I had that moment a week and a half ago.

Due to my getting a house ready to sell frenzy and my get rid of it attitude that included 4 dump loads and 4 thrift store loads, I discovered I had left the paint project cupboards bare.

A few hours spent at garage sales quickly changed that and I had a plethora of before projects.

Vintage Game Table

When I spied a vintage folding metal game table tucked away in a corner of a small antique shop in a little Montana town I fell in love.

Show Preppin'

I am in the midst of "dead week"--you know, the week in college before finals when everything is quiet because students are cramming for tests.

Except it is not quite that quiet around here--drills are humming, saws are buzzing, paint is flying.

And the test I am cramming for is a show this weekend, Junk Fest!

So, This is Happening...

Sooo... we have wanted a new house for awhile now.  We love our home and our neighbors, but we wanted a shop for me so our cars can stay warm in the winter (instead of my roadside finds and reclaimed wood), a place for our camper to be parked (not allowed in our subdivision), and a little more yard space.

We purchased a lovely, large lot in a nearby subdivision a few years ago.  And, it sat.  We couldn't decide on a house plan.  I knew there would be the inevitable arguments over what I wanted and what was in the budget.  There would be sidewalk, and fence, and sprinklers, and grass to put in.  We sold the lot, thankfully for almost double of what we paid for it.

That left us looking in a market that was increasing and picking up.  And then we found this:

Colorful, Rustic Bench

Do you ever create something and just sigh...ah, yes, THIS is me, THIS is the one.  That is what happened when I made this bench.

It isn't all that different from my typical style, but the wood edge and legs really made the colors pop for me.

Scrappy Organizer

I am reposting this--original post was July 2012:

I used scrap pieces to make a great and useful jar organizer and or vase.

I screwed a board on the back to connect the scrap pieces. Make sure to use two screws in each board.
