Teen Attic Bedroom + an Easy Vanity

Oh, to be a teenager again. My daughter's attic bedroom is such a fun space to decorate and work on.  She loves working on projects on it and has some really great ideas.

I haven't shown you any updates since mid summer because after working on my daughter's flooring and painting and headboard, we decided we needed to work on outdoor projects while the sun was shining and save the indoor projects for the winter.

Here is the before of my daughter's sitting area and vanity space.

Here is the after, at least one side of it.

We made the vanity from two kitchen stools that we were no longer using. I found a salmon color spray paint to paint them the color of her choice--she chose greys, aqua, salmon, touches of yellow, and black and white, plus dark barnwood for her room.

A piece of reclaimed wood stained dark brown was secured to the stools for the top. Baskets to hold supplies fit on the stool rungs.

A mirror sits on the top.

She grabbed some of my cork letters from Michaels to spell out choose joy.

We put together a hanging light with a shade and kit from World Market.  We still need to work on hiding the cord by hanging a few pictures.

I painted an old chair grey and recovered the seat.

The room darkening curtains and rod are from Target.

I love her space and all of her input that she has given to make it what she wants.

  1. Love the stool vanity idea. Very cool that she has that little nook sitting area. What's the rest of the room look like? I think I'd love me a bench or comfy chair under that window.
