How to Paint a Pallet sign with an Ombre Paint Technique

I love a GOOD ombre finish, one that blends nicely--and I think I came up with one that works great, especially on signs.

I am sharing with you a 2 color ombre paint technique. Ombre means shaded or gradual in tone or color.  Most often you see it with one color and white added to make it gradually lighter.  I used two complimentary, but different colors.

Pantry Door--Checkin' It Off The List

Back in December I listed a dozen projects that I wanted to complete in 2015.  I actually got a jump start on it and got this one done after Christmas, but am just getting around to showing it off now: THE PAINTED PANTRY DOOR!

Wood Block XO

Do you ever set out to make something and you have no plan at all?

No idea on how what is inside your head is going to get out and translated into something that people will recognize?

LOVE & Hearts, A Dozen Ideas

Saturday, oh Saturday.  Slept until 8:58--don't hate me, we have all been recovering from the flu.

And when I roll out of bed and get to work here shortly, really it will be soon, after all the heated blanket turns off after 10 hours...I plan on working on a little Valentine's Day something something.

LOVE Arrow Sign

You know the story of the cobbler, right?  Even though his job was to make and repair shoes, his poor children had no shoes of their own. I think I have shared it before, but my home is often like the poor cobbler's kids--shoeless or decorless in my case.

But this past year, I have been better when I am making things to sell to make one more for myself.  So, although my XOXO heart went to my booth for sale, I made another Valentine's Day sign to KEEP for my home.

2015 Decor Trends

This time of year I like to check out the decor trends, and then quickly forget them.

Okay, maybe not completely forget, and I usually do try to add touches of some of them to my home and to the items I make to sell. I completely believe in decorating with what you love and forget the trends.  But, I enjoy seeing what is new and upcoming.  I like keeping things FRESH.

The funny thing is, you can find experts that report the complete opposite trend. And I am not even going to mention a color of the year--I have seen 20 different ones!  I am sharing what I like and might be willing to try.

Warm mixed metals--think copper, gold, and bronze.  I have always been a silver girl, but I am warming up to this trend.

XOXO, Reclaimed Heart

How do you feel about Valentine's Day?  LOVE it, so to speak, or not so much?  I saw on Pinterest that people, especially those on college campuses throw Valentine Hater parties (let's be fair to Saint Valentine here, collegians love to throw ANY kind of party!).

Wow, I never knew there was so much disdain for the holiday.  Me? I think it is a nice day, a fun day, never a huge holiday at my house, but sweet.  I am pretty sure even the years I was single on the day, I didn't dread it or hate it.

But, just in case you feel that way, let's call this project a simple, everyday kind of heart--one not just for lovers, but for friends, moms, kids, sisters, even dogs.  After all, hopefully we all feel some XOXO for someone!

Be Present in 2015

Happy New Year!  So this is it, the day we are all supposedly making a new life, changing our ways, improving our habits.  I am not a big new year's resolution kind of a girl.  I do like to reflect and think ahead and plan though.  I do like to work on being a better person and with that in mind I have been thinking about my word or mantra for the year.

Many bloggers like to pick a word to motivate and guide then through the year.  Last year I chose DARE.
