Rustic Industrial Wine Rack Made from Pallets

Last week I showed you how to make a back to school crayon box (here) from two pallet boards.

This week I made a rustic, industrial wine rack from two pallet boards.

Use pallet boards and plumbers tape to make an industrial wine rack

This is an EASY project and a great way to store a few bottles of wine.  Start with two 5 1/2" pallet boards cut 36" long. Join the boards together with two small 11" x 1 1/2" scrap boards.  Use 1" screws, four per each joining board.

Sand well and paint as desired.  I used a grey OOPS paint hat cost me $2 at Home Depot.  I then sanded some paint off and stained over the painted wood.

Using plumbers tape and 3/4" sheet metal screws (they have a bigger head), create the wine bottle holders. Start my securing the plumbers tape to the top of the board.  I clamped a yardstick on the edge to keep my tape straight.

After two large holes, screw into the next small hole. Using a wine bottle as a guide, place the plumbers tape over the top.  My large spaces for the ends of the bottles had nine large holes per each holder.  I secured the holder on the other side of the bottle, approximately 3 1/4" from the other screw.

Leave a two large hole space, and then add another screw.  Count out nine large holes and secure the next bottle holder 31/4" away from the previous screw.  Continue to do this down the board.  You should get 6 wine holders on a 36" board. Cut the plumbers tape a little long and fold and secure the end of the tape to the bottom edge of the wine holder board.

Clamp the yardstick to the other side. Secure the plumbers tape to the top of the board. Count down four large holes and screw in the next small hole. Using the neck of the wine bottle as a guide, form the tape over the wine bottle. You should have six large holes per bottle neck holder. Secure the holder about 1 1/4" away from the previous screw.

Continue until you have six wine bottle neck holders.  Cut the plumbers tape a little long and fold and secure the end of the tape to the bottom edge of the wine holder board.

Add two D rings on the back for hanging.  This size wine rack works great attached to an end of a cupboard or looks great on the wall.  The tipped bottles give your wine proper storage as it keeps the cork wet.

  1. What is the concept of these bottles? I mean what is the real use of them? How can we utilize them? If you reply it will be great.
