Sunday Verses

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Hebrews 13:5
Content--a word I have been trying to embrace.  After all my car troubles a few weeks ago, we started looking for a new car.  My car did get completely fixed and is running just fine, yet we started thinking we needed something better, a little bigger, newer.  Then we started crunching numbers, how high of a payment were we willing to go for?  How many bells and whistles did we "need"?  After discussing it and praying about it and warding off the salesmen, we came to our senses and decided we were just fine with my current vehicle.  We were content.  This world tries to keep us uncontent, telling us that we need something bigger, faster, shinier, newer.  But, the Bible tells us to be content with what we have, so that is what I am working on doing and let me tell you, content is a much more peaceful place to be in, just as God planned for us.

Mad For Plaid

I love finding wool, plaid blankets at thrift stores and garage sales, but they are rare in these parts.  So when I saw this one full of holes at thrift store I snatched it up, for 50 cents!  I knew there was enough of it without holes that I could use it for a few projects.

And one of those ideas was a bulletin board perfect for a lodge look or a man's office (yes, my bulletin board obsession continues).  I started with this frame--the 1978 puppy poster in it now hangs in my daughter's room.

Painted and distressed the frame,

And covered a piece of bulletin board cut to size with the blanket.  Cozy, with a purpose!

Under $100 Linky Party

Are you ready for spring?  I sure am!  However, we really don't have much of a spring here, and it is my least favorite season as it usually means more snow, lots of mud, 1 week of spring-like weather and then 90 degrees.  Right now we are under a dangerous storm warning, with arctic air on its way--oh goody!  Still, my tulips should be popping up through the snow within the next month or so.  Looks like some of you are getting spring fever too.  So many great links last week, thank you!

A little business to take care of: please, please, please link up to the specific post, not your blog and please no links to things you are selling, thanks!

Inspired Nesting's darling burlap pillow is bound to get you thinkin' spring.

How fun is this desk from Beyond the Screen Door?
I don't know if I'd mind being put in time-out if I got to sit on a stool as cute as this one made by Little Guess Family.

Belted Inspiration

I like leather belts--they inspire me for some reason.  Perhaps, living in Montana, I am a rodeo queen wanna be, dreaming of wearing a prized belt with a flashy buckle (nah, I don't think that is it).  They are inexpensive at thrift stores, especially on half price days and come in a variety of colors and styles.  Whatever it is, I have made a few things with them:
A belted basket,

A seat/side table,

And a star.

My latest idea started with a pile of belts and an old framed picture.

A little black paint on the frame, a little weaving and staple gunning, and I got this:

Boarding

Boarding--a popular word in my house since my boys are avid snow boarders.  However, boarding to me speaks of bulletin boards, one of my favorite things to make--nothing like something cute to help you get organized.  I am working on a few that aren't quite done, but thought I'd show you some from the past to link up at Donna's Funky Junk Interiors Party.
One of my faves was my PB inspired board:

I spray painted this one with a number theme.

This is a combo bulletin board/chalkboard message center made from a bunk bed ladder.

Recently I shared these bulletin boards made from hotdish holders:

I used a coffee sack and some old garden fencing on this one.

I used a vintage tablecloth to cover this bulletin board.

And finally, have made many with the criss-cross ribbon.

Under $100 Linky Party

So, McLinky started charging (as did Linkz) and with my crazy, busy, beautiful (?) life I didn't pay in time so previous links disappeared.  I can get them back (quite frankly the whole thing makes me crabby!!), but I haven't figured out how yet.  I can still show you some fabulous things from last week.

Domestically Speaking gave an invaluable tute on painting laminate, yes painting shiny unreal wood.
Love these fun dog leash holders from Saturday Mornings!
West Furniture Revival whipped up some simply divine numbered pillows.
Little Family Fun's square felt farm animals make me smile.
Sweet altered spoons from Everyday Cookies!
and finally, since everyone has had so much snow, here is a recipe for snow ice cream from The Pampered Mom.
Thanks all for your kind words and prayers.  Life is slowly getting back to "normal", I still don't have my car, but hubby is home from hospital and doing much better--I will take him over the car any day.
