Today was a playing in the workshop day--nothing that HAD to be done. But, I do need to be prepping for my next show, so that is what I did.
I want to bring 10 crosses to the show and today I made five of them.
Each one is different.
I made four that I left unpainted and one colorful one. Tomorrow I will make 5 more, most painted I think.
I liked the nail holes on this one.
This cross has crown molding on it.
Loved the gorgeous patina on the barnwood I used for this cross.
The skinny wood pieces on this cross are lathe pieces from our 1932 schoolhouse.
I also used the lathe on this colorful cross.
I am excited to make more tomorrow! Which is your favorite?
each one is beautiful..

Love the top one where the wood makes an X in the middle.
ReplyDeleteThanks Teri, that wasn't my plan when I cut the wood, but then played around and came up with it.
DeleteLove the barnwood one hands down. I spent some of my happiest childhood days at my aunt and uncles home in Kentucky. The barn was such a magical place to me. I loved the cows and the hay loft and even the smells. Lol. Good luck on your show Becky.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb. Sometimes I still get cow smell on the barnwood. I like the one with the X in the middle, which is also barnwood, because of the nail holes--makes me think of the nail holes in the original cross.
DeleteThey crosses are wonderful, I love most the colored one and will start to make a cross like this in the next days (because I first have to look for old wood in my workspace).
ReplyDeleteThank you for your blog, it is a fantastic inspiration for me,

Thank you, I am glad you are inspired to make a cross of your own!
DeleteLove the top one... nails and all...just brings home the right message! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Maggee, it is my favorite too!
DeleteAll are beautiful! Outstanding job :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie!
DeleteI like the painted ones best! I have a bunch of lathe boards and am going to be a copycat! Thanks, Becky!
ReplyDeleteThey are all truly wonderful but I have to admit the colorful one makes my heart sing. Love the one with the beautiful patina too. It has a special air of prayer about it.

ReplyDeleteVery Cool. I especially love the colorful one. How much are you charging for that one? Tammy
