Seat Belt

Um, ya, today is supposed to be my "I was inspired by..." post.  And although I am sure there were many inspiring blog posts out there this past week, I am afraid I did not see many of them because most of my blog surfing and internet time has been spent researching Celiacs and gluten free recipes.  On top of that, we are working on hosting an orphan from another country this summer, which has meant lots of meetings, paperwork, and home visits.  Oh, and teen son dropped the laptop, which is now not working so I have been on the dinosaur of a home computer.  So...I am sorry my comments have been few and my viewing of beautiful blogs has been limited.  Hopefully, that will improve shortly!

I made a fun seat or luggage rack or spot for bathroom towels or..., from a camping stool and leather belts.  Thrift stores always have belts, and there is never a big rush for them so I wait until half price day to pick a few up.  Doesn't take long until you have a nice stash.

I cut the belts to the correct size (save the extra pieces--I have some ideas for them) and screwed the belts onto the camping stool frame.  You could use a heavy duty staple gun, but mine is cruddy.  The screws were quick and easy.  I did set a heavy object on it for an hour to help the belts lay down nicely.  After taking pictures, I decided to put the weight back on overnight.  (PS--the book on top, 3 Cups of Tea, a must read, and by a local author).

  7. That is so inventive! I really like the look of it. I agree with you completely on the choice to go ahead and use a screw. There's just something more solid about it.

    Again, love it!
