Oh yeah, I already have that home--Montana and the buffalo or more accuartely the bison are plentiful. A little fun fact--buffalo live in Africa or Asia, bison in North America. I photographed this big guy In Yellowstone last spring.
After watching the news the other evening where there was a segment on the Yellowstone bison, I decided I needed to make some bison art.
I started by joing two pieces of reclaimed barnwood. One piece was split into two pieces, but joining the pieces together solves that problem.
I enlarged a bison silhouette at blockposters.com.
Chalk the back outline of the image.
Trace over the outline with a ball point pen.
Next paint the image wihite.
A quick, light sanding and clear wax finished the bison art.
Although I like it above my fireplace,
this piece went out to my antique booth--hopefully it will find a new home soon!
There are European bison also. And there used to be two species of bison in N. America. They are stunning beasts. Love your art piece!!
ReplyDeleteThis turned out beautifully- love rustic the wooden panel- we're starting to see some small bison on small farms in Pa here and there- they are amazing creatures
ReplyDeleteBeing a Kansas girl myself, I really enjoyed the Buffalo post. I still call them Buffalo....It says so in our state song by golly.
ReplyDeleteLove, love this! Especially with the plaid banner.
ReplyDeleteAnd this one is one of my favourite! I love doing art, and I think I made another idea how to paint on wood with your idea! I love your fireplace. Cool!
