For my project I started with a thrift store cutting board. You also could use a tray from the thrift or craft store or a piece of wood or cupboard door. I stenciled with the large reindeer stencil and the snowflake from the Christmas crates stencil (note, there are lots of other great snowflakes on other Old Sign Stencils). I lightly sanded the cutting board to remove oils. Using a good red craft paint, I stenciled the large reindeer. These stencils are easy to center because they have great registration marks.

When the red paint was COMPLETELY dry, I lightly sprayed the cutting board with a clear spray. While this in non-toxic, if you want to place food directly on the wood tray, use a food safe product. I then taped the reindeer stencil back down over the painted deer. Using the cute snowflake on the Christmas Crates Stencil, I stenciled with white paint. I placed the snowflakes close to each other to create a cute overlay pattern.

I added a few snowflakes around the reindeer and clear sprayed the tray again when the paint was dry.

A couple metal handles finished the tray.
