Double Duty Star

Well, it has taken me far longer than I planned, but this is my final 12 Days of Christmas project. 😁 This is a double duty, works for two holidays project so instead of being way behind, we can say I am way ahead.

This star is easy to create and the stenciled tag that flips over makes it perfect decor for both Christmas and the Fourth of July.

To build the star, start with five equal sized boards. I used thinner wood and pieces that were fairly narrow, not all the same width. The boards were cut to 20".

I painted them red, distressed, and stained them before assembling the star. I simply place the boards upside down in the star shape I like and screw them together. I did cut the horizontal board a bit shorter after securing the four angled pieces together.

ALSO, please note, prices for stencils that you see are in Canadian and convert to less in US dollars.)

For the tag I used a thin board that I painted white on both sides. Using the Christmas Crates stencil from OLD SIGN STENCILS, I stenciled the Christmas postmark on one side,

and the star and postmark squiggles on the other side.

I love that this easy project can be used for two different seasons. The Christmas Crates Stencil is so versatile, i love being able to use it "outside the box".
