It's getting warmer, okay not today, but most days lately are warm enough to have a little outdoor sitting time. When we moved this last year and bought a new house, the back porch was definitely a plus. It is covered, off the kitchen, and has a great view. I am starting to decorate it for summer use and I am using mostly thrift store finds to put it together. I hope to show you all of it next week, but today I am sharing a sneak peek item, a wood whirligig, thingamajig from the thrift store.
This was a $2 thrift store item that I think was homemade.
I wasn't sure if I should good because honestly, it feels like something OLDER folks might like to have. BUT, I haven't shared that I became a first grandma three weeks ago to this sweet boy. I am pretty sure grandma's are supposed to have whirligigs and such, so it did come home with me.
I knew I could personalize it and make it a little more hip with color. so I painted it.
When it was closed and flat, I painted both sides of it.
I used yellow, bright green, aqua, and navy blue, painting stripes, using the whirligig cuts as my guide.
I like that I can see it from my kitchen window,
and here it is from the comfy back porch view (I can't wait to share my comfy back porch couch with you next week).
Here is an in-focus picture of our back porch view.
Today's thrift store tips are to always look at the wood items and always remember that paint can personalize and modernize most wood objects.
