I am doing my best to use what I have or what I can find for my Christmas decor this year. My goal is to not need any more plastic tubs to store my Christmas stuff. This is a challenge for me as I truly do adore Christmas decorating.
But, I am enjoying the challenge of coming up with ways to use what I already decorate with. If you have read my blog for awhile, you know that I like to scatter small mirrors throughout my home to fill holes and to bounce light around the room.

When some of the newest stencils from Funky Junk Old Sign Stencils arrived yesterday, I knew immediately what my first project would be--creating temporary Christmas mirrors with the stencils.
There are so many wonderful new stencils, but for now I chose to get these three: Christmas Sweater, Hot Cocoa with Cup, and Mini Christmas Tree Signs. Please keep in mind that the prices you see are in Canadian and exchange to less in US dollars. The variety, versatility, and high quality of these stencils keeps me coming back for more. You can see the stencils HERE! The sweater stencil is my favorite I think, kind of funky and I have so many ideas for it. You can even make your own Christmas sweatshirt with it.
I gathered up a few of my mirrors to stencil on. I will show you all of them in place in a couple weeks when I do all of my official decorating. For now they are hanging back in place, easing Christmas decor in.
Clean your mirrors first. I taped the stencil in place and used acrylic craft paint. You do not want to use super strength mineral or chalk paint, but rather something that will easily come off after the holidays. I will use a little DAWN dish soap and a razor blade to scrape the paint off in January.
Remember to tap off most of the paint, especially when stenciling on glass. If you can take the mirror out of the frame, it is easier. Otherwise, gently bend the stencil at the frame edge.
I love how they look almost etched,
I love how quick and easy they are, and I love how they will not be adding anything new to store after the holiday. You can stencil around your bathroom mirrors. The tall stencils from Funky Junk Old Sign Stencils would be really cute on a long wardrobe mirror. Have fun, be creative, use what you have!
