Junk-Fest Hangover

I think I have had a Junk Fest hangover this week--have done little to no junking. I have been working in my yard and hiking with the kids and enjoying the beautiful weather. Here are some pictures from the sale--not great ones, I took them at the last minute. The sale was a success--in spite of the fact that is was freezing and rainy most of the day!

My friend Tina made these--don't you love the candle box?

These are Missy and Mary's booth--the owners of the Antique Barn where I have my stuff.

Getting Ready

Here are a few things I have ready for our show.

I made this sign--we stole the name junk fest from the North Dakota girls--we did have permission from them Ü.

I planted up an old ice cream maker-see the paddle in the top. This coat hook, purse hanger, etc. was made from the top of a different ice cream maker. I didn't have a complete one.

Here are some more junky plants on a cool tripod thingy I got at a garage sale for $3.

This wooden box was plain--I painted it and decoupaged the Little Red Riding Hood pictures on it (they are from a 1953 book).

This is a simple little side/drink table made from a tray and stool.

Oh, and some people wanted to see the green shutter plant hanger with flowers--I chose white lobelia (sp?) and white dragonsnaps.

Two Dollar Trunk Transformed

Here is the $2 trunk I got last week with a few coats of paint to tone down the bright blue that it was, and my swirls that I love.

I also painted up this little table that was a bright blue to start with, and this shutter that will hang on the wall for photos and letters.

Lots More Projects To Show

I am so behind! Sorry--last week was not the week to try to show you a project a day. First week of summer, hubby working 14 hour days in preparation of leaving for 3 weeks to take classes, rain (it is still raining today!). But this week you will see lots of things because it has to happen. I, along with 3 other ladies, are having a big junk fest this weekend with 30 + vendors! I have been making stuff, but now I really must kick it into high gear! Since I don't like to leave you without something pretty to look at, here is an old project, a drafting table that I painted with a matching stool.

And for a Monday morning laugh I thought I'd show you some goats on a roof in Victoria, Canada, because who doesn't love some goats on a roof.

Project 3

I found this great, OLD toolbox for $2. I knew I wanted to use it as a planter when I bought it. I made a frame out of 2 x 4's and added legs. Painted it up, screwed the toolbox onto the legs and drilled holes in the bottom for drainage. I planted it with herbs and painted old silverware for plant markers (sorry-they are hard to see).

I screwed two pieces of wood on the back ( see it there in the space?) so the lid would stay open and upright and would not fall back. I considered painting the inside of the lid with chalk paint, but I decided I liked the way old wood looked.

A Quick Project 2

Just a quick project today. Today was about other things. Today would have been my son's 9th birthday--his golden one. We took flowers to the cemetery. It was a less tough day than it has been in the past, which is good.

For this project I used thrift store/garage sale belts and a freezer basket (from a chest freezer). Fairly simple--I used two belts around each, what's the word I am looking for, lap? No that is not the word I was looking for, but I think you know what I mean. I buckled one belt to the other. You could do this around other types of wire baskets too.

Project One and a Disclaimer

Here is the first project. I didn't take but one picture of the process, but I started with a 2 x 4 box frame.

I added shelves and pieces of salvaged wood, mostly baseboard pieces, and legs from an old coffee table. I painted it in my favorite blues and greens. I am showing it here as a little wine cabinet, but it would be great for books, or kitchen stuff like bowls and towels, or knick-knack-paddy whacks!

Disclaimer: I am going to do my best to make and show you a project a day. However DH just informed me that his parents, who never come here, are coming for a night sometime this week. So there is cleaning and washing and shopping and cooking that will have to be done. And I will not be a rude DIL and hang out in the garage while they are here. So, if I can get ahead, I will show a project a day, otherwise I might miss a day or two.

Sunday Verses

Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
Your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
Psalm 36:5-6

This is a favorite verse, because it pretty much sums it all about God's love and righteousness and His justice. Amen!

This will be my last Sunday Verses for the summer months. I spend less time on the computer and will be gone many weekends camping. Be I will still be here with projects on weekdays.

A Couple Things and Next Week

Really, my titles are becoming less and less clever. Or from barely clever to not clever at all! Anyways, went to a few garage sales here. It has been raining off and on, but I was able to hit a few of them while it was dry. It is supposed to SNOW tonight, yes snow. I got this trunk for $2--what a steal!

And I got this entry bench for $25. I will keep it I think, probably paint it black. It is in great condition. I couldn't keep the sweet daughter out of the pictures.

Next week I am planning a project a day extravaganza. Yes, I said an extravaganza--not sure what makes it that, but it sounded good. So starting on Monday I will show a new project every day. Sometimes it might be 5 before midnight when I post, but it will be here. Please pray for good weather--it makes working so much more enjoyable. Here are links to last year's projects in case you missed them:

What's Your Number Baby?

I got these fun house numbers today at a thrift store for 25 cents each. Not sure what I am going to do with them, but aren't they cool? I also got this little cart for blocks--I will shabby it up and use it for a plant.

And my middle child won an award today for having all straight A's from 3rd-6th grades. It was a goal he set. Now onto junior high, uhg! (Blurry picture--my camera does not like gyms!)

A Little Tray Table

What can you make with this pile-o-junk?

How about a little table?

The tray is removable so you can serve food on it or something like that.
