Patchwork, Scrap Wood Cross

I knew I saved all of those little scraps I have cut from other colorful wood projects for a reason.
I made a cross out of pallet wood first.
I then fit and cut all of the little pieces,
and used a nail gun to attach them.

Under $100 Linky Party

Oh I have been having so much fun playing with the reclaimed wood that was given to me by a woodworking friend (see past 2 posts).  If I could, I would be working with it 12+ hours a day (and my house looks like I have been, ugh!), but there are other wonderful things to do with my time as well.  Oh to have my 20 something body back--not so I could look hot in a bikini, but so it could work endless hours without pain and I could survive and even thrive on 4 hours a night.  Alas, that is not the case, so I will continue to plug along a few hours here and a few hours there.

Here are some wonders that you have been spending some time on:
A beautiful buffet from Red Hen Home
console 004
Lucious lemon--from Blissful Roots
Kammy's Korner's lovely laminate signs
North End Loft's springy mantel decor
Confessions of a Serial Do-It-Yourselfer made over a thrift store box
SONY DSC
A Pottery Barn desk look alike from My Passion For Decor
Crafty Home Improvements shared a sweet nursery painting

I look forward to seeing your links.

Spring Green Sofa Table

Here is one of my first projects with all of my fabulous wood, a slim sofa or entry table painted in a bright, springy green.

Pallet wood was best for the X on the back because it is a little more flexible.  The X not only adds a design element, but really helps to make the piece sturdy.

The top I painted in white, it looks rough, but is smooth like butter to the touch.

This was a quick build and is a great size to work in many different spaces.

Rustic, Reclaimed Chalkboard

Is there a theme here?  I sure seem to be in the rustic mode lately.  I made this simple chalkboard with a scrap piece of plywood and 4 pallet boards.
I screwed the frame on through the back of the plywood painted with chalkboard paint.

The chalk rests on the frame.  Reminds me of old school chalkboards.

Under $100 Linky Party

Happy Spring!  It really is my least favorite season in Montana as it usually means more snow, more brown and mud.  I don't hate it, it is just my least favorite.  But, it does mean eventually warmer days will be here, and eventually things will be greener, so I will try to be patient.

So whether you are thrilled it is spring or in a holding pattern, do check out some of these great links from last week!

Simple Spring Centerpiece

Centerpieces are definitely not my strong point, but I did put together this simple one for spring.
A little tarnished silver plate from the thrift store,
a blue saucer,
some candles hot glued for stability,
moss, also from the thrift store,
and craft store eggs.
I love the silver on my rustic barn wood table.

Pallet Chest

Hubsters decided to try his hand at building something from pallet wood.  While I was at work one day, dear daughter showed him how to get on Pinterest and find things.  He found a trunk from Instructables and decided that was the project he would tackle.  He didn't use the exact plan at all (which is shocking because he is a man who likes an exact plan).  I was thrilled with the results.

This piece is pretty big and used loads of screws--I think hubby is going to keep it simple in the future, but he had fun and thinks I am a little less crazy now for being a pallet princess.

Rustic Roost

More pallet wood, this time some very weathered wood that called out to be left alone.  In about 20 minutes I constructed this bench,
a little different style from the last.
I gave the wood a light sanding,
waxed it,
and let this rustic roost rest as is--no paint, no treatments, simple and quiet.
