Sunday Verses

I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonders.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing praise to your name,
O Most High.
-Psalm 9:1-2

Sorry about the dark picture, but this is where we are headed today, the Lewis and Clark Caverns. A very cool place and a great place to praise God for his magnificent work and wonders. Spend some time enjoying God's wonders this week, and don't forget to thank Him for the beauty He created.

I have some new projects done to show you this week, so come on back, ya hear?

Sunday Verses (On Monday Ü)

And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
And why are you worried about clothing?
Observe how the lilies of the field grow;
they do not toil nor do they spin.
But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor
was clothed like one of them.
-Matthew 6:27-29
God does not want us to worry, about anything! The big things, the little things, and all of the things in between. He asks that we simply trust. Trust that He knows what is going on and He has our back. This week, try to catch yourself when you are worrying and STOP, DROP (to your knees if you are in a place to do so), and PRAY! Ask God to take away your worries, ask Him to forgive you for not trusting him, ask Him for peace. And as the song goes, don't worry, be happy.
Preschool is done on Wednesday and then I will be back to showing you lots of fun junk projects! Hope you all are well, thanks for checking in!

Sunday Verses

They are like trees planted by streams of water,
which yield their fruit in its season,
and their leaves do not wither.
In all that they do, they prosper.
Psalm 1:3
Where are you planted? Are you planted by the stream of Living Water? When we place our lives in a position where we can get what we need--nourishment, we will produce fruit. How do we get this nourishment? We spend time with God in His Word, in prayer, praising and worshipping Him. We will survive and even thrive whatever the circumstances if we continually place ourselves in a position to be fed by God.
If you are feeling tired, overwhelmed, withered, spend some time with God this week. Put yourself in his care and he will nourish you.

Shutter Planter

Yes, I am still here. I even missed Sunday Verses--sorry I was too busy enjoying Mother's Day! We had a lovely day of going to church (after I was served breakfast in bed), picnicing and hiking.

My postings will probably be sparse for the next few weeks as I finish up preschool. It is always such a crazy time of year--concerts, awards assemblies, track meets, plus all of the end of the year stuff I do for preschool.

I did manage to get this little planter done. I saw something similar on a friend's front porch. It wasn't shutters and it wasn't a wire basket, but a wire thingy and it was green. I decided I needed to find some junk to make something similar. The basket is a freezer basket, I see these quite often at garage sales. I screwed a 1x2 board across the shutters and then screwed holes through the edge of the basket and put screws down through the 1x2 to secure the basket. Imagine flowers or herbs in it as it would look much cuter, but it was a snowing here yesterday, so I am waiting 1 more week to plant. I am going to sell this, but am going to test it out first to make sure it can handle the weight of wet soil. Hope you all are doing well!

A Little This and That

I got to work on a few things today and take a few things out to my antique booth. I painted up this table. Forgot a before picture, imagine that, but it was your basic brown, scratched table. I used the candlewax technique on it with five colors: cream, green, orange, brown, and blue.

Look at the cute vintage lamp I found. The shade I put on it is pretty bad, but it's all I had for now.

Here is fun folding artist's stool and a bakelite poker chip holder and an aluminum ice bucket. I took out a couple of other little goodies.

I have other projects in the works. I am thinking I want to tell my family that for Mother's Day I want to be able to work, uninterrupted all day, and not come inside to a huge mess and dirty dishes Ü. Hey, a girl can dream!

Oldies

It's been a crazy busy week--oldest son turned 16, middle son had a band concert, 2 Mother's Day teas at preschool, Mother's Day gifts, Teacher appreciation week, blah, blah, blah! I've had no time to junk, so thought I'd share a few oldies, and hopefully you think they are goodies.

Here is a chair and table I painted. The words are the definitions for hope, love, and joy.
This less than wonderful picture shows a chair I did and a stool I made--each leg was a different spindle and a different color. The doorknob keyholder my friend made.

This bench was made from a rusty headboard. I decoupaged the bronco label on there and painted the wood to match the headboard.

I am hoping to get to some projects tomorrow!

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far

I guess the creating gene has been passed on to my daughter. I got home the other day and the sweet seven year old made this:

"What is it?" you ask. Why it is a magazine holder for when I take magazines in the car (we had traveled on Saturday for a track meet). How cute and creative is that?

Sunday Verses

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and
puts them into practice is like a wise man
who built his house on the rock.
- Matthew 7:24

Reading the bible is a lot like exercise for me. It seems like there are a million other things that I need or want to do and so getting started is hard. But, once I start, I love it and want to keep going. When I exercise I want to do more-- sit-ups and squats, and push-ups. And when I start to read and study the bible, I want to go on and on. I want to find more verses that apply to my current life. I want to find history and cross references and read different versions. I am always amazed at how timeless the bible is--how situations are similar to my life. And like exercise, I feel so much better afterward and never regret the time spent.

Is it tough for you to get into God's Word? This week I challenge you to read the bible more than you did last week. For some that may mean cracking open the Good Book for the first time in years, for some that may mean reading each day, others may be diligent readers of the Word and may just add an extra chapter a day. Whatever you do, I am certain that if you spend more time in the bible this week, you will be blessed. Let me know how it goes!

Special Order

I painted this special order for a friend's daughter. She wanted something antiqued white, simple, with reds and yellows. I added boxes on the chair backs for books.
