Happy Sunday! Life is short and it can change in an instant. We have all heard this, but a few recent tragedies have once again reminded me that we cannot take this life for granted. Life is fragile--we need to say what we need to say, take chances, forgive even when it is hard, say sorry, mend broken relationships, be healthy, eliminate negativity, spend our precious time on people and things that matter, including on our relationship with Jesus. The older I get, the more I realize how quickly time passes. Life is a gift, let's appreciate it and enjoy it. This week challenge yourself to do something that you have been putting off for another day.
Happy Sunday! Even though it has been several years since my baby son died, I remember clearly the well-meaning words of some people. I was told things like, "It is for the best that he died, a heart transplant would have been so hard." Or, "He died for a reason." Or, "It was God's plan." And while I know people were trying to comfort me, I wanted to scream, "STOP, you have no idea what it is like to hold your child while he dies." God came to this earth as man so that he could walk in our shoes and we are called to do the same for each other. We need to give each other genuine empathy. We need to cry with each other, not just for people and get "in the trenches" with each other. We must remember that everyone has a story and we need to see each other like Christ sees us-with unconditional love and compassion.
