Painting Cupboards with Fusion Mineral Paint

After trying to squeeze as much fun into a summer, I decided to finally finish painting my cupboards this past week, and I am sooooo happy with them.

Sunday Verses

Inspiring Verse on Walking in Other's ShoesHappy Sunday! Even though it has been several years since my baby son died, I remember clearly the well-meaning words of some people. I was told things like, "It is for the best that he died, a heart transplant would have been so hard." Or, "He died for a reason." Or, "It was God's plan." And while I know people were trying to comfort me, I wanted to scream, "STOP, you have no idea what it is like to hold your child while he dies." God came to this earth as man so that he could walk in our shoes and we are called to do the same for each other. We need to give each other genuine empathy. We need to cry with each other, not just for people and get "in the trenches" with each other. We must remember that everyone has a story and we need to see each other like Christ sees us-with unconditional love and compassion.

Inspiring Devotional about Life Being Short
Happy Sunday! Life is short and it can change in an instant. We have all heard this, but a few recent tragedies have once again reminded me that we cannot take this life for granted. Life is fragile--we need to say what we need to say, take chances, forgive even when it is hard, say sorry, mend broken relationships, be healthy, eliminate negativity, spend our precious time on people and things that matter, including on our relationship with Jesus. The older I get, the more I realize how quickly time passes. Life is a gift, let's appreciate it and enjoy it. This week challenge yourself to do something that you have been putting off for another day.

Thrift Store Bamboo Chair Makeover

Another day, another thrift store chair makeover. This bamboo chair caught my eye at the thrift store, BUT I wasn't loving the price. I took a chance and waited a week and got it for half price-- $7.50. I loved the shape of the chair, the curved back and rounded arms.

The blonde color of the bamboo wasn't the look I wanted so I upcycled it or changed it to suit my style.

Devotional on God Seeing Beauty in our Scars
Happy Sunday! "Why are you taking a picture of a dead tree?" hubby asked. "Because I think the branches are pretty against the blue sky," was my reply. Do you see beauty where others do not? Jesus does. Jesus does not look at our broken and our scars and our "ugly" in disgust. He sees ours scars as places where he wants to love on us. He sees our life stories in the ugly places and wants to show us his beautiful grace in the flaws. God does not disregard the broken, but he uses our fractured and damaged parts to show his love to us and others. Do not hide the unseemly parts of your life from God (because, really, we can't even if want to), but rather let Jesus work to make them beautiful.

Devotional on Letting God Work Things Out
Glacier National Park is one of my favorite places because it is so beautiful. A lot of its beauty can be seen out a car window, but, if you are willing to take some time and effort (i.e. hike), you can experience incredible views and sights. I find God works in our lives the same way. There are some good things that are relatively easy to see and experience, but much of what God works out in our lives takes time and patience. Waiting on God and trusting that HE will work everything out is never easy, but when we love Jesus we know that the effort in the waiting is worth it. Rest in knowing that he is working everything out.
