Pallet Board Thunderbird
I have had a thunderbird on my brain ever since by daughter bought a piece of jewelry with a thunderbird.

Sunday Verses
Happy Sunday! I have a dear friend going through the hurricane in Houston right now. She and her family are safe, but boy, have they been battered with rain and wind. Honestly, I cannot imagine and I am sure Texans are feeling weary. This verse assures us that when we are weak and exhausted, when we are bruised, when we feel defeated, God will not break us. God is a loving Father. Jesus is gentle with hurting, broken people. He loves us compassionately and with kindness that we simply cannot fathom and understand. And all he asks is that we simply accept that love and when we are strong enough, share it with others. Rest in that truth my fellow bruised reeds and flickering candles.

Sunday Verses
Happy Sunday! This verse has been on my heart for several months and in the past few weeks I have been reminded of it again and again. Jesus did not come to this earth armed with a long list of do's and don'ts or with his finger pointing at us. He doesn't stand in front of us, arms held up with wrists crossed in an X. Rather, Jesus stands in front of us, arms flung open wide, restoring and healing us. And, Jesus asks us to do the same: to stand in front of one another, with open arms and with hearts full of mercy. Somehow we have made mercy hard and we do not show love to all, to those in our communities and to those right in front of us. Before we do anything else, before we worry about the "rules" and the rights and the wrongs, we MUST show mercy--we MUST love with wide open arms and wide open hearts and stop the condemnation and hate.

Sunday Verses
Happy Sunday! I love wildflowers. Each variety is different and beautiful in its own way. Wouldn't it be absurd if the flowers sat around and compared themselves to each other? But, we compare ourselves to others all the time. God created each of us individually and remarkably. Yet, even when we know this, we still compare just about everything--our homes, children, weight, spouses, jobs, vacations, etc. We need to stop. We need to embrace our individuality, our own strengths and weaknesses, and chose to appreciate those traits we admire in others rather than compare. When we trust and value God's opinion of us, we will not feel the need to compare ourselves with others and we will experience more peace and happiness. This week, let's appreciate our uniqueness and stop the comparison game.

Back to School Box Made from Pallet Wood
Some of you have kiddos back in school already, wow! I know, across the country they all go pretty much the same number of days, but my little birdie that is still at home doesn't start until August 30th.
With the onset of the new school year (whether it is now or soon), I thought a fun and quick gift idea for the teacher or for your child was needed so I cam up with this crayon shaped box made from pallet wood.
