When hubby sent me a picture of this old door last summer (or was it the summer before?) and asked if I wanted it for $5, I quickly said, "Yes, please!"
The problem is, it got tucked away in the garage and I forgot about it. But, I rediscovered it this fall when we got our third garage bay cleaned to hold a car.
It is a smaller door with great, chippy paint. I knew it would make a great backdrop for a hall tree.
I built a box for the seat. I used an old cabinet door for the front so that it looked more like a panel from the door.
I used reclaimed wood for the sides, back, and top--adding a hinged lid for storage. I added little 4X4" block legs to the box.
I painted the box black, and then a green that I mixed up, and then white. I sanded and scraped to get a distressed look that matched the door.
The door has some really dreamy crackling paint in the green spots.
Other than washing the door, I left it as is. I did stain over booth the door and the box, to help them to match.
I added some black hooks I had and
an oval mirror from the thrift store that I painted to match.
It is a perfect size for an entry, not too big and has great storage options for families.
That's awesome
