Island Dreaming

I am on day 4 of being home with a sick girl.  Thankfully, she is feeling a bit better--I am getting a pedicure right now from her :).  I am also dreaming of being on a beach, somewhere warm and sandy, sort of like this picture:
And I am also itching to build, but the garage is about at zero right now so I am stuck inside painting.  Which is good too, but I want to build something big like an island. Also, today on HGTV's Design on a Dime they were excited to make a kitchen island out of an old dresser for $400.  I thought, "Heck, I can make one for less than $25!"  But, until I get to do that, I thought I'd share a few islands I have made in the past.

I think this is the first one I made from an old folding, deck chair.

I made another one from the other chair.

I made this island from a roadside desk, an oil drip pan, and other elements.

This isn't really island but a fun kitchen piece I made for wine or other storage.  I made it from old bed part I found in an alley.

And here are a few of my recent islands, one from an old wagon,

and one from pallets.

What about you?  Doing any warm weather dreaming?  What are you working on?

  1. I am loving that red island with the drip pan top! Awesome color with a very unusual but beautiful top and a chalkboard to boot! Excellent I pinned and I want one! Where do you get a drip pan from?

  2. LOVE them all Becky, but the red one and the one from pallets have always been favorites of mine!
Hope the baby girl feels better real soon.
    ps pinning!

  3. I loved your pictures! I'm wondering if a kitchen island would be a good idea or not in my tiny kitchen and your pictures were so inspiring!

  4. Love the red island (and I don't even like the color red!) but I'm particularly in love with the wagon island. On my look out for an old wagon now to repurpose.

  5. I love these ideas! I can't believe how inexpensive it was to make them. I'm wondering if there is anything with commercial fences mississauga that I can do.

  6. You are just awesomely talented! Such great projects, I love them all!

  7. I love all the projects! I love the oil drip pan for the top - that is genius!!

  8. You are so talented. I would have to see a tutorial to figure them out, and you just see it in your minds eye!

  9. really nice pieces. wish there was a simple "here, this is how you cut the wood and put it together" video! having trouble envisioning how to get started.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate your kind words!
