When you are in the junking business, junk tends to find its way into your life. Such was the case recently when a friend from high school who now lives in Oklahoma saw that a friend of hers in our hometown was throwing out 1940's windows. My friend contacted me, a few more connections got involved and I ended up with a nice pile of old windows. I made an easy project with the first one.
The glass was broken in most of the windows. I added a thin piece of beadboard to the back of this, painted with chalkboard paint.
I left the window sash the color it was, a nice grey, and just sanded it a bit to get loose paint off.
I added three hooks that I painted white across the bottom.
I am happy when junk falls into my lap and I love giving it new life.
I love the patina on the window! You were lucky to score those windows!

ReplyDeleteI'm not even in the junking business and junk still tends to come my way...although it is really great junk! Great idea with the window! I have some windows just like that...maybe one will end up like that at my lakehouse!
