Thrift Store Finds with a March Mood

Happy March! March is always a hopeful month for me--longer days, typically warmer, more color and green outside. And even though we still have plenty of winter left here in Montana, snowfall melts pretty quickly and we don't have long stretches of bitter cold temperatures. I gathered some recent thrift store finds to match my March mood. They are all placed on thrifted, dark green blanket.

I have been finding quite a bit of lovely, mostly vintage, art. I love the colors and the amateur quality that some of these have. These two watercolors in the lower left corner that you see a glimpse of are from 1972, which sadly I sometimes think was not too long ago.

This $2 daisy painting is happy and is amateur enough to almost have a professional abstract feel to it. I don't know, I am no art critic, I just know what I like. It is professionally framed and signed so ???

The landscape print is a litho from the 1940's. I really like the frame on it.

This small oil painting is not old, but I liked the colors and the subject matter, and the black canvas. paintings like this make great shelf sitters.

I am collecting plates for a possible plate wall. I want plates that are colorful and mostly vintage, but not the old floral, rose vintage and antique style plates. I will use funky over frufru floral and love handmade plates like this rainbow one. The majolica geranium plate was a fun, fifty cent find. I think I need about 30+ plates so collecting is going to take some time, but the hunt is certainly part of the fun.

The faux green berries are a great way to introduce a bit of spring into the home. The chartreuse vase would look great full of budding pussy willows this spring.

Every home needs a little color and different textures, even if you are a white home kind of a person. Accessories and art work are the perfect way to add these elements to your home and witth thrift store find, you can do it on a budget. Happy thrifting
