Sunday Verses

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you;
he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV

It's been a trying weekend. And without going into details, let's just say teenage son made some bad choices and got caught, thankfully. I always pray that God will reveal what my children are doing. He is fine, extremely remorseful, and we are fine. When hubby called and told me, my heart sank (honestly, right into my bowels!). I went to my knees with my bible. I prayed several different verses for us, and this was one of them.

Parenting sure teaches you a lot about how God feels about us, his children. I was very disappointed, but also proud that my son did fess up right away, apparently one of the few students who did. I am sure that is how God feels when we confess to him. I also hurt so badly for my son and wanted him to know how much he was loved, even though we were upset. It was very important to me that he understood how deeply I loved him, no matter what. Just imagine how much more our Father in heaven loves us with his perfect love. Please know, whether you are a believer or not, you are loved completely by God, no matter what. Happy Sunday!

  2. Your post really touched my heart this morning. We have had our share of difficult sitiations with our 17 year old son. He usually is the one to tell us whenever he makes a bad decision. It has hurt my heart and also his whenever he has done these things. What really shocked me the last time was that he ask me if I still loved him?! I had to make him understand that I love him no matter what. I'm glad that God loves us like that too!

  4. God truly is amazing in that we can never do anything to stop his love for us. He blows me away. I'm sorry you've had a hard time this week. I will lift up your family in my prayers but it is a testamint that your son did fess up and is remorseful. I think that says a lot of great things about your parenting.

  5. Your son is a very lucky young man to call you Mom. Moms like you are few and far between and my guess is the scripture that you have been lining your heart with are very applicable right here right now in your life. Kudos to you for making the hard choices.

  6. Happy Sunday, indeed! I'm glad your son came clean. A conscience is a good thing. Glad you got your book. Can't believe it took so long. I have to dedicate some time to get into mine. Can't wait. Hope you have a good week. ~Mindy And thanks for my award!!!

  7. I am sure you son appreciates the love and compassion you show to him.... and that will serve as a gentle reminder for him to fall back on when he becomes a man and eventually a father~

  8. Wow, I have to say, we've walked a road with our children, now 24 and 20, and I must tell you that the only way we got through and saw victory was by doing exactly what you've just said and by having that mindset and going to Jesus with it and them instantly.
    With Prayers,

  9. I love the transparency of your heart with this post-I also love the Scripture that you shared. It is one of my "life" verses.

    Parenting is such insight into the heart of God toward us (His children.) You & your husband are doing an awesome job reflecting God's love to your son.

    Blessings & Peace to you my Sister & SITSta (dropped by from SITS rollcall)
