Salvaged Star, XXL Version

I made the BIG MAN'S size of my salvaged star.
Again, I used 5 different types of salvaged wood for a scrappy look.  (To see how I painted the pieces SEE THIS POST) I screw the pieces together both from the front and the back.  Remember at least a few of the pieces need to be flexible and have a little give.
Trim board, pallet wood, crown molding, tongue and groove paneling, and barnwood.
Sorry, I was too hot and tired...okay, too lazy to stage this before I packed it in the car to sell at Farmer's Market so you get it plopped in the flower bed.

Blue Bench

Just a simple bench today,
easy construction,
a little white and blue paint,
some sanding and stain was all it took to create a shabby little perch.

I know, my flowerbeds are in terrible shape--so much stinkin' grass that I did spend days pulling a month or so ago.  What do you know?  It grows back--especially when it rains for 3 weeks.  Oh well, I love my flowers, stray grass and all.

Rainbow Fish

Can you handle more ScRaP projects?

I sure hope so because I am having so much fun coming up with ideas for my leftover bits and pieces. To see the technique I used to paint these bits and pieces when they were part of larger boards see THIS POST. Today's project is a rainbow fish.
I attached them to a great piece of weathered barnwood using the brad nailer.
I cut the angles on each piece on the chop saw and then sanded the corners to round them up a bit.
This fishy makes me smile--colorful,
whimsical, fun!

Old Glory

My scrap wood playing continues.  I love hunting in my piles, using up what I have.  This time it resulted in a chippy, rustic version of Old Glory.
I used pieces that were already painted red or white for the stripes. You can find my "How dI'd you paint that? " tutorial in my side barbirvon my tutorial page. I had a blue chunk that only needed a star painted on it.
A piece of picket fence, some trim boards, pallet wood, barnwood--
I put it all together with some boards screwed in on the back.
Long may she wave.

This Way ---->

I made an arrow.
Why?  Why not?
I was playing with my scrap wood and an arrow is what I came up with.
I used the nail gun to assemble it.
I wasn't sure if I was supposed to make a parallelogram or a trapezoid for the tail pieces.
The 11 told me a parallelogram makes it more aerodynamic--I went with it.

Salvaged Star Door Decor

My poor front door has been bare since after Easter decor came down.

I know, the shame of it all!

I remedied that today by making this little, scrappy star.

I wanted it to look hobbled together so I used 5 different salvaged pieces.

I needed a few pieces with some flexibility thus the trim piece and the yardstick.

Scrappy, simple--just my style,

and my front door can show her face again.

Show Time

Another show down and done!  This one was Junk Fest that I help to put on.  It was fun and crazy and inspiring and tiring.  Here are a few photos from my booth that I shared with a very talented friend (we have been selling together for 12 years).

Also here is a fun, basic cabinet redo.  This one started out looking very tired, worn, and ready for the dump:
I added some shelf support boards on the back (sorry, blurry picture),
and then a new back made from reclaimed wood with an upper shelf area.
A fresh coat of red and cream paint
and you have a great coffee, wine bar, potting table or...

My Home's in Montana

Who knows the next line to that song?  Yep, it is I wear a bandana, my spurs are of silver, my pony is grey.  The first line is true--my home is in Montana.  Look at this untouched photo of our sky the other night:
No wonder I chose to make Montana home, right?  After seeing some cute t-shirts with a state and home written on the state, I decided to make a pallet sign like the shirt.
I did a couple for my show this weekend.
These would be easy to do for any state.  if make one for your state, I would love to see it!
PS--I have had some great questions asked lately, I am not ignoring you--I plan to have a Q and A post soon :)!
