Happy Sunday! Today hubby and I are celebrating 29 years of marriage. Most of us, Christian or not, are familiar with the love verses in 1 Corinthians telling us what love is and how we should love one another. The love described in these verses is perfect love and something we strive for, but fall short of so many days. I think if we could master the first two descriptions of love--patient and kind--oh, what a different world we would live in. I try to remember to practice patience and kindness towards my husband and everyone and I repeat this verse under my breath when I am feeling anything but patient and kind. And, although I fail miserably, I continue to practice to love others the best I can with the perfect love that Jesus gives to us.

Upcycle a Vintage Picnic Basket
I have such a fondness for vintage picnic baskets. And while I don't collect them, I do like to find them and fix them up for re-sale.

Sunday Verses
Happy Sunday! I just spent some time in one of my favorite places, Glacier National Park. The natural beauty never ceases amaze me. I took way too many pictures, trying different angles and views to get the perfect shot. I lay on my back to get some photos or would try to get a shot from straight overhead. And, I was once again reminded that changing our perspectives changes what we see. Altering my perspective to God's view and looking at life through the lens of eternity gives me a much better picture and clearer vision. When I focus on what matters to Jesus and not what seems to matter here on earth, I am humbled and I remember to just breathe and to not worry, but rather enjoy a better perspective. Let's look at life through God's eyes--we will see so much more.

Roadside Rescue Bookshelf
When hubby told me he had picked up a real wood roadside shelf, I was excited. But, then he brought home this...
a very dirty, very dilapidated, shelf with a burn hole.
So, after letting it sit for a month and almost hauling it to the dump, I decided to tackle it... and gave it a rustic industrial makeover.

Sunday Verses
Happy Sunday! On a recent road trip, we heard a couple different times one of my favorite childhood songs (thanks to satellite radio stations). And, as America sang about being in the desert on a horse with no name, I thought about so many people who feel like THEY are nameless and lost in a desert. I long for people to understand that God knows their name, that Jesus sees us and KNOWS. He sees each hurt and every pain, he sees the loneliness and the sadness, he sees the lost and loves us through it all beyond our limited human comprehension. He KNOWS your name and mine, and knowing that means we will never be nameless and alone in the desert places in our lives. Trust and rest in knowing Jesus KNOWS you!

Sunday Verses
Happy Sunday! We love living near Yellowstone Park and being able to go into the park in the spring to see the baby animals. We get excited seeing the mama bears playing with and protecting their cubs. Chances are if you are a parent you have been a mama (or papa) bear at some point in time. We love our children and want what is best for them and sometimes that means fiercely protecting them. What a comfort it is to know that God is the ultimate "mama bear". He has our backs, protects us, and wants good things for us. When things are not going our way, when life is hard and it seems like everything is against us, remember that God is FOR us always, He will not abandon us or leave us.

Boho Rustic Sofa Table
It almost always pays to take a second, closer look at garage sales and the thrift store.
That is what I did recently and I spied with my little eyes a table that had a bodacious base being used to hold small items at a yard sale. I asked if it was for sale and I was told, "Sure!"
I made sure to point out the flaws (a top with peeling layers of veneer) and examine it closely before I asked the price. When I was told $10 I said I would take it. (I swear I took a before picture, but can't find it.)

Sunday Verses
Happy Sunday! Recently in my Facebook feed I have been seeing an article about how complaining rewires our brains for negativity. It made me think about this verse and why God would want us to rejoice each day, even on the hard days. God knows exactly what the article is saying, and He knows that no matter what our circumstances, focusing on the positive reminds us that life is precious and that He continues to make new days with new opportunities. Practicing daily rejoicing doesn't mean that we won't feel sadness or experience strife, but when we choose to rejoice on the tough days, on the days that wound us, we will know a contentment and peace that only Jesus can provide. Today, let's choose joy.
