Under $100 Link Party

Ah, here we are, another week gone by.  How did you spend the last week?  Mine seems to have been a whirlwind--a basketball tournament out of town, some sunstitute teaching, and a whole lot of getting ready for a show this weekend.

I have decided the week before a show I go through four stages: 1.) I tell myself I don't want to do the show, I should cancel. 2.) I feel good and positive, think I will have plenty of stuff and am in good shape.  3.) PANIC 4.) I say, "What the heck, it is what it is, it will all work out."

Today I am still in stage 3, but quickly heading to stage 4.  Can anyone relate?

While you ponder the stages, enjoy looking at some of these lovely links from last week:

Pallet Shelf Tutorial

And the building continues for the show this weekend.  Yes, I said this weekend--this is how I roll.  I painted a load of pallet boards yesterday.  I had 6 that were from the same pallet, all very nice pieces of wood and decide they needed to become a shelf.

After the pieces (pluse 2 other narrower pallet boards) were painted on both sides, I built the sides and back.

Island Time

It is that time of year.  March Madness?  No, although I have been enjoying the games. Springtime? No, not in Montana anyhow.  It is show time--as in junk shows.

And show time means island building time for me because they are great sellers.

Home Sweet Home Coat Hook

Home, sweet, home!  I hope that these words are true for you--that you find your home a haven and the place that you most want to be.  It is for me.

Don't get me wrong, I love to travel, love to see new places, love to go out with friends and visit family.  But, deep down I am a homebody.  I love being home with its familiar comfort (and clutter).  A day spent at home is indeed sweet for me.

So home sweet home was the sentiment I chose for this coat hook.
You may remember I made a stocking holder

(click HERE for some directions) like this at Christmas time--the stocking holder that has been copied over and over, even had someone using MY pictures on etsy to sell it.  I don't mind at all if you make what I share--that is why I share, but please give credit where credit is due.  But, I digress...

Shutter Mailbox

Oh, the paint has been a flying around here the last few days--no pallet wood is safe.  Once I get several (as in 50+) boards painted using THIS TECHNIQUE, the real fun starts--trying to decide what to make with it.
One small project I did was this shutter mailbox.

Caribbean Table For Two

I think the colors of the Caribbean that I experienced in December have just stuck with me.  I can't seem to go away from them as evidenced by this fun, drop-leaf table set I just finished painting.

My son, who is a junior, and his team just finished up the season with a fourth place win at state. They won their divisional tournament the week before.  I love watching them, cheering them on, getting the crowd going--all of it.  Now, that the season is over I am not sure what I will do on Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights, but I am guessing I will find something :).

Projects Galore With Drawers

Drawers--I like to say that word in either a southern drawl or with an English accent--it just is more fun.  Are your drawers at home neat and organized?  Do you have a junk drawer?  More than one?
repurposed drawer ideas http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/2014/03/projects-galore-with-drawers.html

I have picked up lonely drawers here and there (and by here and there I mean restore places, the side of the road, from too far gone dressers) over the years and created various things from them. I have some looking up from their cold, dusty spots in the garage begging me to use them.  Thought I would peruse some of my past post for inspiration.  Check out all of the links for more details!
Hubby grabbed a set of waterbed base drawers at a garage sale.  I used several to make ottomans like this one HERE:

How-To: A Modern Distressed Paint Technique

Is there something that is pretty much a part of your everyday life?  Something that if you go a few days without you feel like there is something missing?  For me it is paint.

My name is Becky and I like paint.  I like to play with it and try new colors, I like to use it in new ways and color my world (and others') happy with it.
modern distressed paint teqhnique bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com
I used a subtle paint finish on this table.  By subtle, I mean the colors under the main color are not screamming at you.  It is not greatly distressed, just hints that there are other colors under the French linen.

I am gearing up for a few spring shows--shows=signs, at least some.  More and more vendors have jumped on the sign wagon so I try to do someting a little different, but keep it simple for me.  The signs sell well, and definitely add fluff and filler to the booth.

Shutter Island

Shutter Island?

Not the movie.  Have you seen that movie?  I have not, I heard it is scary and I don't do scary.

Anyway, if you have been around my blog for awhile, you know I like a good island.
