Picket Fence Shelf

Rachel, yes my good friend who gave me the vintage cooler also gave me a few sections of picket fence that had been her daughter's headboards at one point (alas, they became teenagers and no longer wanted pickets).  I took one and cut it into 3 sections--two 3 picket sections and one 4 picket section.

I screwed them together in the back corners, added some wood bracket pieces and shelves.  Some white paint and a versatile little shelf was born, great for books, a bathroom, in a kitchen.  Here it is for sale with some of my other "wares" at the Farmer's Market.

Little Cabin Stool

I decided this bit of wool blanket needed to be part of a stool.  If you remember, I got this wool blanket that the moths had been feasting on for 50 cents.  I used some to cover a bulletin board,
and now built a little stool for another piece that had no holes.
I painted the base blue like the bulletin board and stained the legs dark.

Now to build the cabin to put this in...

Hop Ching Hopefully = Ka-Ching

I have had this great star checkers board for a few years.
It was made by the J. Pressman Co, who made the first of these gameboards in the U.S. in the 1920's.  I think this particular board dates to the late 30's or 40's.

I built a table frame, painted it red, used some Briwax on the game board and attached it to the table base.  Hopefully it well sell this week at Farmer's Market,

Under $100 Linky Party

I think I have a Junk Fest hangover still--you know that sluggish, cloudy feeling that you get after a big event withOUT even drinking.  It went remarkably well, sold all my big pieces except the cedar chest, and I might have that sold.  I have some fun new things I am working on, nothing like a pile of free wood to inspire me.  Here are some fun things some of you wonderful folks have been up to.
Nothing says summer like a glass of lemonade and The Country Chic Cottage shared the perfect sign for that!
What kid wouldn't love this great closet door from Craftopotamus?
Extreme cuteness from Holy Craft.
My daughter would flip for these butterflies from House on Aswell Lane.
I love all things chalkboard and this table from You're Talking Too Much tops my list of favorites.
Oh, if only my kids were still young enough for this PB inspired sandbox (hers is cuter than PB) from Life in the Dub Lane.
Who wouldn't want to get organized with this cute message board from A Couple of Craft Addicts?
I can't wait to try this recxipe for magic shell from Smile Monsters.

Looking forward to all of your fun under $100 ideas this week!

Beverage Cart

My dear, sweet friend Rachel, who has a great eye, picked up this fantastic vintage cooler from the thrift store for me (isn't she the best?).  Check out the bottle opener on the side.
I knew it needed a fun project to show it off.  I came up with a beverage cart.
I started with a sketch for this project and pieced it together, board by board, solving the construction questions as I went.
Some wheels and a few hooks for BBQ tools or a towel, and it is ready for entertaining.

From Playset to Potting Table

What a fun and tiring Junk Fest week it has been.  The Fest was fabulous, sold like crazy :).  Here is one fun thing that sold--a potting table I made from a swing set that hubby took apart for someone.  Pain for him, happy for me when I saw all the yummy wood.

I used a walkway portion to make the top of the potting table.  I added the legs, and the sides of the table apron, a shelf underneath and some old garden fencing on the back.

Some paint and stain finished it up and now it has a new home.

I have been busy getting ready for our third annual Montana Junk Fest.  I have some fun things to show you, but the next few days are all about YOU, showing off what fabulous things you have been doing like these fine folks did last week!
Love this romantic patio from with a Grateful Prayer and a Thankful Heart!
Condo Blue's crazy birdhouse is crazy cute.
Who would have guessed that this adorable vintage style dress from Second Chances started life as a men's shirt.
I want to copy this rustic trunk from Cottage Hill--so fantastic!
This dresser makeover from lil Pink Pocket is divine, mmm!
Saving For Six's toolbox planter makes me smile :)!

See Da Cedar

I snachted up this cedar chest for $5 at a garage sale.  As you can see, it was badly scratched, but the cedar was in perfect shape.
Some sanding, white paint, distressing, and stain and she is all better.

Going to be tempted to keep this one, sigh, can't keep them all.

Ladder to Organizing Success

I got this little ladder for $2--I am not sure if it was a decorative ladder or used as a pot hanger, but I saw it's potential as a memo board/organizational piece.
I added a board for a chalkboard, a locker basket, and an old hardware store drawer for pens, scissors, etc.

Some hooks on the bottom for keys or purses and you have a fantastic "get yourself organized" piece.
