I Will Take Mine on the Side--Fun Table Ideas
Side table? End table? Occassional table?
Whatever you call it, I like a good, smalle table to sit next to a chair or couch. Who doesn't need a place to set a cold drink or a warm cup of coffee, a remote, and a great book?

Summer "Mantel" & Old Faded Book Page Flag
It is almost the 4th of July (okay, 2 weeks away, but that is pretty darn close) to almost and that means it is time to decorate for the fourth. So last night while not sleeping I came up with this giant flag idea for my "mantel", aka, shelf.

Ah, I survived my show and had a blast on the day of. I hate to say survive, because I do love creating for them, setting up and selling at them. But, as I said, this one ended up landing in the middle of a fairly high stress time in our life so sometimes survival feels likes the mode I was in.
Now, I am in summer relaxation mode. Lazy mornings on the porch, late nights working in the garage, and afternoon siesta which hopefully soon will be in the sun, if this cold weather will go away. What is your favorite thing about summer?
Thanks all who continue to link up each week. Remember to visit each other's links, share where you linked up so others can join the fun. Please review the "rules"--thanks! Here are some eye catching links from last week:

Crates are Great: A Round-Up of Crate Ideas
Ok, first things first: it is SNOWING here in Montana. To be fair, it is not snowing in the valley where I live, but it is an hour away from here, where I was yesterday.
I have lived in Montana for 33 years, yet I am still a little shocked to have snow in June. And with this cool, grey weather comes the motivation of a sloth.
So here it is, 10:45 AM, I am in pajamas, curled up with a blanket, a large cup of jo, and the computer. My house is still in post show disaster mode and I don't care--I will get on it in a bit, after one more cup.
And while perusing and thinking ahead to what I want to work on this week, I decided it was a good day to show you some of my past crate projects. Crates are so versatile and fun! If you find a good used one, you have a real treasure. Crates can be created too! Let me know which is your favorite!

Potting Bench Challenge
Ah, I survived my show and had a fun day of selling, seeing friends, chatting, and finally relaxing. As part of this show, Junk Fest, the show organizers gave 6 of us junkers an old cast iron sink and challenged us to make a potting bench with it. Here is what I came up with:

Mother of 4
Today my son Mason would have been 14 years old.
Today is the day I remember that I am the mother of 4. Not that I don't remember him every day in some little way. But, when people ask, I say I have 3 kids. I identify myself as a mother of 3. Today though, I celebrate that I have been blessed to have four children. And although I get the privilege to raise only three of those children, I rejoice knowing my son is being raised by the most perfect parent, Jesus, and I will be blessed to see him again one day. It is that absolute hope that gives me peace and allows me to say, "It is well with my soul."

Here Fishy, Fishy, Fishy
What movie is that line (my title) from? Anyone? Anyone? (That is from Ferris Bueller.) I say it plenty. I looked up the fishy, fishy line and couldn't find a definitive answer. Jaws? Shawshank Redemption? Deuce Bigalow? Help!
Here is Becky fun fact--that kind of stuff drives me nuts and can keep me up at night! The worst is seeing an actor in something and not remembering what else they have been in. Luckily the internet makes it easier to find out those important questions these days so I do not have to be quite so crazy.
But, I digress...What I am trying to say is, I made a fish :).
I have made a smaller rainbow fish on a board before--SEE HERE. This time I made a larger fish with no background board.
I have no process pictures because this was a late night, wing it, what am I making, kind of a project. I sketched a fish on a piece of brown paper. I then placed wood scraps over it and drew with a pencil on the boards the basic angles I needed to cut. I put it all together with thin board pieces on the back--one long one that runs the length of the fish and smaller ones on the edges of the fish. I sanded to round out my angles.
I painted it and sanded and waxed it. I think it is fun and whimisical!
Linking up at Funky Junk Interiors and at A Little Clarification.

School's out for summer! Are you excited and ready to have kids home or dreading it?
I love not having a schedule, love having them around.
I do not love the constant dishes that they "forget" to put in the diswasher, the constant open kitchen, and the pillows and blankets that do not get picked up in the family room. Little things I know and worth it to have them around.
I do start the summer with strict rules--they last about 3 days. Oh well, I don't sweat any of it too much--good thing I am easy going most of the time! What rules do you have in the summer?
While you think about those, check out some great links from last week:

A Tale of Two Tables & A Realization
Do you know what you want to be when you grow up? I am still working on that one. I know what I am passionate about and what I love to do, can do all day and lose track of time doing--and that is creating home decor items from salvaged materials. I am still working on the making a real living part of it.
