On The Third Day of Christmas...

Beyond the Picket Fence gave me an easy gift or idea that is almost free.  Alrighty then, busy day and yes, I admit it, I forgot my blog and my post.  So you are getting a quick one, that maybe isn't new to you, but I had never made these before.  Start with some old books in Christmas colors--you can get old books for about 50 cents on half price days at your local thrift store.
Grab some ribbon or jute, wrap around the books, tie and then add some Christmas fluff--balls, greenery, berries, ornaments.  That is it--a great decoration for a table, a fun gift for a teacher or reading nut.

On The Second Day of Christmas...

Beyond the Picket Fence gave me, and idea for a Christmas card display (If this is your first year visiting my 12 days of Christmas, trust me, the verses will get worse, much worse.)  So, it JUST dawned on me, that sleds are not readily available at thrift stores in all states.  Here in Montana, they are.  No sled?  No worries, you can do the same thing on a rung of ladders, a big picture frame, a metal bed frame, or ...
Sorry about the shadows, I tried different angles and lighting, but no luck. This sled's top had seen better days, was warped and in bad shape, so I got it for a few dollars.  I used cotton clothesline that I stained with coffee to make it look a little more grubby.
I wrapped it and criss-crossed it around the sled rails, and knotted it at the end, hiding the knot under the sled rail.

Some painted clothespins complete the look.  This is also makes a great photo, message display after the holidays are over.  Find more ideas at CRAFT.

On The First Day of Christmas...

Beyond the Picket Fence shared with me, a scrappy little Christmas tree.  Ok, this is not made with things from the thrift store, but rather with scraps from the scrap box that sits next to the saw.  The painted pieces were previously painted, I didn't have to pull out any paint for this project.

And yes, this is a twist on last year's tree, but I like this scrappy little one better.  This is  much smaller, about 10"x 16" and hangs on the wall.

I used the nail gun to attach the boards, but you could use glue as well.  A little stain over the top finished off an imperfect, scrappy piece--my favorite way for something to be!  Find more ideas at CRAFT and at Donna's Funky Junk Interiors

Christmas Crafties

Craft--does that word conjure up a negative image in your mind?  It somewhat does in mine and I tried to come up with another word, but crafty is what it is.  But should craft have a negative connotation?  The definition of craft is: an activity involving skill in making things by hand.  That isn't so bad, right?  So craft it is!  And I have been getting my Christmas crafting on.
If you missed my guess post, I made this fun little decoration from an old book.

And I have also done a little nesting in a couple of ice skates.
Carpets get shampooed tonight and Christmas decor comes out tomorrow as we won't be around for Thanksgiving.  Find more ideas at Donna's Funky Junk Interiors.

Under $100 Linky Party

Sorry this is late, major Blogger issues.  It wouldn't let me save or post.  I copied HTML and saved in word--it was 869!! pages, what in the world?  I have retyped this several times.

Hey all, how is your week going?  Life has been stressful around here.  As my sister says, welcome to the new normal, ugh!  But, as I am preparing for my daughter's bible study group lesson on gratitude and with Thanksgiving and I reminded to pause and give thanks for all my blessings--the ability to worship God freely, my family and friends, my health and home, good jobs, more junk than I have time to play with, fellow bloggers, and so much more!  Remember amidst the chaos to take time to give thanks for your blessings, both big and small, it really does make a difference in your life and attitude to be grateful every day!

And I am grateful to everyone who linked up last week like these fine folks did:
Love the look and price of this Christmas garland from Campbell's Stoop.
Vixen Made brightened up some ordinary ornaments.
I am going to make some of these from The Pinterest Project.
Chipping With Charm's cute Christmas canisters!
More Style than Cash shared some coal cookies for the people on your naughty list.
Adore these book page feathers from Primp.
