I really love having this party at my blog. It is such a good reminder of what a little creativity can do, and I love seeing all these new uses for otherwise discarded items.
Anyway let's stop talking and let's start celebrating. I have the honor of bringing today's specials to the festivities. So here are my favorites of the week:

Christmas is Coming
Ok, I know, it is September... please don't jump all over me. And I love the fall holidays and I am not trying to rush things.
BUT, yes that is a big but (and you know they don't lie) if you want to make things for Christmas, the time to start is NOW!
I know you want to have a stress free holiday season this year. I know you have made it a goal to make more things to decorate your home or as gifts. I know you want to strat early so you can relax and enjoy the season. And with those things that I now, I also know you need to start now.
No, really. Seriously. Would I kid you?
I have started making things that I won't be showing you until my annual 12 Days of Christmas in November. Sorry...but, I will show you 4 of my favorite past projects that you can make now. You SHOULD make now. Come December you will be happy you do!

Updating the Outdated
Do you ever feel out of date? No doubt if you have teenagers the answer is a resounding YES! Oh, it might be the clothing that you are sure you just bought a year or two ago (when in reality it was 10+) or the music that you actually know the words to or the phrases and slang that you try to use to be hip, only to be told that NO ONE says that anymore.
Well, besides what you wear or listen to or say, you may have out of date furniture in your life. But, never fear, unlike your Hammer pants or BIG hair this kind of out of date is fixable.
Here are a few things I was able to update with a little paint and wood. Click on links to see the details.

Drifting HOME
When I try to think up new titles for my blog posts, I often come up with something that leads me to a topic that has nothing to do with my project. Such is the case when I chose this title, Drifting Home.
It made me think of my oldest, and although he is not drifting back at home at this moment, he has a few times since graduating high school. The late teens, early twenties is a different and at times challenging age to parent.
My son is still in the process of finding himself (aren't we all) and has yet to decide on a career he wants to pursue. This has meant that when he has be in between jobs, he has drifted back home to reevaluate. I am happy it is a safe place for him and that he feels that he can still come home at times. We recently thought he was going to be drifting our way again, but as of now, he is staying put, working it out--life and the hard questions and we are happy for that too.
And, now that we have digressed, let's get on to the "drifting home" project:

Easing Into Fall Mantel
If you have read my blog at all, you know I have declared my love for fall and indeed September is not disappointing. It was a frosty 33 degrees this morning and 70 degrees right now--perfect! But, while I adore the season, I am not quite ready for pumpkins and gourds, but my mantel (aka, built in shelf) was ready for a little fall decor.
Last year I shared 5 ways to use junk in your decor when I shared my pumpkin filled shelf HERE. I used those same principles to decorate my "easing into fall" shelf.
