Wine Rack Tutorial

I told you I would share a tutorial on the wine rack I made for THE BAR, since it stretched my thinking.

Rustic, Old Door Bar DIY

So, when asked to make something for our local booster club I auction, I said yes (like I have many times before).

I decided I wanted to build a rustic bar, and then decide to use an old door for the front, and well...

the project evolved from there.

(Please excuse messy workshop pictures.  I finished this baby just in time for the auction and didn't have time to properly stage it. Plus, it was too heavy to carry anywhere other than the back of the pickup.)

Sunday Verses

Easter, God's Word, Bible Verse, truth, http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/2016/03/sunday-verses_23.html
Happy Easter! Today, we celebrate the stone being rolled away and Jesus's resurrection. But, what about friends and family who don't know this Good News? God's love for us rolled away that stone on the third day and made a way for us. We too, through Him with his love and power, can help roll away the stones for others. Our reaching out to the hurting, the lonely, the angry, the weak, the lost folks in our lives, helping them and loving them where they are at will help roll away the stones and the obstructions in their lives. Today, this week and month and year, as we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, let's look to helping others move the unmovable barriers they face by loving them with the same unconditional love shown to us on the first Easter day.

Paint Makeover

When a friend gave me a little piano stool like this (although more scratched up),
I knew a little paint and fun fabric would update it.

Rustic Jelly Cupboard DIY

I love when inspiration comes from unlikely places--such as a simple green screen insert.

When a friend gave me an old screen I knew it would make a great door for a jelly cupboard so a cupboard I built, right around the screen.

Charming Commode

Okay, how many of you thought I was calling a toilet charming?
commode, dresser, upcycle, reclaimed wood, old spool, antique, http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/2016/03/charming-commode.html
Nope, a commode is ALSO a small chest of drawers and when I was given this one, I knew it didn't need much to be charming again.

Sunday Verses

bible verse, inspirational, Easter Verse, God's Word, Palm Sunday, Easter devotion, Jesus, http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/2016/03/sunday-verses_16.html
Happy Palm Sunday! On Palm Sunday the people gathered in the streets to praise Jesus and to shout out to Him, "Hosanna!", which literally means SAVE US! They were finally recognizing who Jesus was and they knew they needed him, they knew He could save them. I love that they had no shame, no pride, no reservations about calling out to Him with what they needed. How often do we, do I, forget to cry out to God, "Hosanna, save me, save us"? How often do we try to handle our problems and issues ourselves and are too prideful or fearful to ask for help? Jesus did save the people--not like they expected, but fully and completely in His perfect way. Whatever you are going through, no matter how big or small, cry out to Jesus, praise Him and trust that He will rescue you and save you. It may look differently than what you are planning, but KNOW His saving grace is always available, always perfect, always right. Hallelujah!

Foodie Friday, Gluten Free Chicken Caprese

Chicken Caprese, gluten free, http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/2016/03/foodie-friday-gluten-free-chicken.html
Okay, so friends I cook like I craft: no plan, no precision, no exact idea of how things will turn out. This recipe is one of those creations so you will have to "go with the flow" on this recipe and be OK without exact measurements.

This dish is worth trying, makes a great meal for company. You can do it, really...

Shabby, Rustic Table

I KNOW I took a before picture of this table...BUT, I can't find it.  So close your eyes and picture a shiny, formica, fake wood top, dark avocado green stained legs and lots of grime and gunk courtesy of many years of use no doubt.

Got that image?  Now, open your eyes and see how I transformed this sad seventies table.

I removed the formica top, and added reclaimed barnwood.

Sunday Verses

bible verse, inspiring quote, making old things new, God's Word, sunday verse, http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/2016/03/sunday-verses_13.html
Happy Sunday! I love old things--I am in the business of old things, appreciating their beauty and history, while making them new and different. God is also in the business of old things. He loves our worn and tattered, hurt and used selves. He loves to take the "material" He is given, our horrible days and poor choices and make them new and better and fresh every single day! I am so thankful that God "upcycles and repurposes" each new day for us. What an absolute gift and treasure his forgiveness and mercies are! Amen?!

Rustic, Barnwood Hall Tree

If you sell, you must build.  And sell I have been doing, which is great!  And building is what I have been doing, which is also good.  But, I seem to be staying only one short step ahead of the game.  And so for the last month I have been selling items over the weekend, usually on Sundays and then I do the mad dash build on Sunday nights.

During the week I have been focusing on smaller things for my upcoming show.  That needs to change.  Anyway, this is what I built last night, a rustic, barnwood hall tree.

Sunday Verses

bible verse, inspirational, faith, photography, yellowstone park, http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/2016/03/sunday-verses.html
Happy Sunday! As a kid I loved singing about Joshua and the walls of Jericho crumbling down. As an adult I see there are so many lessons in this story of the Israelites. There is the lesson showing us that God's ways are not our ways, and we see the evidence of His power. We see that God keeps his promises and see the courage of his people. And, we see that faith works. The Israelites were facing the enemy, they were up against a wall, and God wanted them to march around it and toot their horns. God's children listened. They believed. They had faith. Their faith required them to obey God, to take action, and to do what He wanted, as crazy as it sounded. Our faith needs to follow this same pattern. We need to listen, obey, and take action on what God is calling us to do. And when we do, when we hold on to and act on our faith, the walls and obstacles in our lives will crumble.
