On The Second Day of Christmas...

Beyond the Picket Fence gave me, and idea for a Christmas card display (If this is your first year visiting my 12 days of Christmas, trust me, the verses will get worse, much worse.)  So, it JUST dawned on me, that sleds are not readily available at thrift stores in all states.  Here in Montana, they are.  No sled?  No worries, you can do the same thing on a rung of ladders, a big picture frame, a metal bed frame, or ...
Sorry about the shadows, I tried different angles and lighting, but no luck. This sled's top had seen better days, was warped and in bad shape, so I got it for a few dollars.  I used cotton clothesline that I stained with coffee to make it look a little more grubby.
I wrapped it and criss-crossed it around the sled rails, and knotted it at the end, hiding the knot under the sled rail.

Some painted clothespins complete the look.  This is also makes a great photo, message display after the holidays are over.  Find more ideas at CRAFT.

  1. Well....you would be correct. There are no sleds where I live here in South Florida!!!! BUT, I really loved this post regardless. You never know how thing inspire your readers. I try really hard not to get too "Florida-ish" with my blog posts, so I get your hesitation. Perhaps, someone who lives near me will so the same thing with a surf board!!!! LOL

  5. What a cute idea! Very creative. I've done something similar with a picture frame, but the sled just makes it feel more Christmasy!
