You know the story of the cobbler, right? Even though his job was to make and repair shoes, his poor children had no shoes of their own. I think I have shared it before, but my home is often like the poor cobbler's kids--shoeless or decorless in my case.
But this past year, I have been better when I am making things to sell to make one more for myself. So, although my XOXO heart went to my booth for sale, I made another Valentine's Day sign to KEEP for my home.
I think this design originated as a tattoo, but I first saw on it a shirt HERE. I didn't pay attention to the order of the letters and think in retrospect I might have arranged them differently, but the teacher in me painted them like you read--top to bottom, left to right.
I decided to paint each arrow a little differently because that is just how I roll. I used pallet wood attached to boards in the back. I screwed through the front because the wood was very thin.
Love it! I am glad you are keeping one for yourself-I forget to do that too!
ReplyDeleteIt's great, and if you ask me, you did put the letters in the correct order!
ReplyDeleteSo cute Becky! I think my house is the same way! I am slowly starting to "decorate" here and there.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I think the order of the letters and the differences in the arrows are what give it such great appeal. LOVE IT!! (no pun intended...)
ReplyDeleteSeeing this makes me want to make one. This is perfect for any time, not just Valentines. Would be quite cute over your bed or in your bathroom. I'm so inspired would love to have hubs put it together for me this week but it's raining so all the pallets will be soaked, darned it. No place to work either as no garage or basement. Drat and rats. This is such a perfect sign. You did great with lettering and painting the arrows.
ReplyDeleteMaybe instead I'll work on arrows from one of your party projects, love them, will just need to get some sticks. Hmmm, have some real sticks so will use those instead of others shown and glue paper arrow points and tips on sticks. Where there's a will there's a way. That's what crafters do isn't it, find ways to do things without original supplies? Now if I can get down to shed for sticks, it's a big muddy mess in our yard after snow melted and now rain, yuck. Poor chickens are running around with very dirty tootsies. Hubs cleaned up their coop and little yard within their enclosure and put fresh straw in last week while it was nice out, good thing since it's a mess now. Hate rain, all we get is mud and more mud. Try cleaning a 75 lb. black labs feet when he comes in or I'll have mud tracks all over. Why don't the cats feet get dirty when he goes out in rain?
Better pin this before I forget. Happy week and New Year
