Simple Hand Painted Signs on Reclaimed Wood

I seem to be easing into the new year in small ways, slowly.  I am not sure if it is because it is so cold (we haven't been out of negative temps this week), but slow and steady seems to be my motto.

And that is okay. I have plans for some big projects and big builds, but this week I have been content painting small pieces, small, hand-lettered signs.

I have painted about 30 of these so far, each one a little different, each painted by hand, one a a time.

I use scraps of reclaimed wood, chalk out my designs ( see my hand painted sign tips HERE ) and then I paint away.

I am keeping the signs simple with an easy font.  Hopefully they will make someone smile. I love little signs like this tucked in small spaces--next to a door, sitting on shelf, or as part of a larger gallery wall display.

What are you up to?  Are you jumping into the new year with gung-ho full force or are you slowly easing into it like me?

  1. Those are awesome. I'd like to get more creative this year. I fell out of it, for a few years and am feeling the urge to get back in. I see you wrote a book - well...no wonder you are so talented. Such talent.

    1. Thank you Debby Marie! I HAVE to create every few days--it drives me nuts not to!

  2. I like signs that aren't perfect and handmade. The signs in the stores that are sold are mass produced and too pat. Plus I like the true rustic look you can give the signs doing it yourself. Love the coffee sign! Good job!
