Today's Thrifty Thursday project is a paint makeover. I won't buy furniture at the thrift store if it isn't good. i.e. it needs to be real wood, sturdy or have the ability to be made stable easily, and it needs to have good bones. Because I am kind of picky about what I get, I don't get a lot of furniture at the thrift store. But, this little table met all of my requirements--it is solid wood (look underneath and at the edges well), and even though it was wobbly, I could see that it would tighten up easily.
I gave it a sunny yellow makeover.
I lightly sanded it and then gave it two coats of a bright yellow paint.

I think used the LARGE buffalo check stencil from Funky Junk's Old Sign Stencils. You can get it HERE. These are super high quality stencils. Also, note the price you first see is in Canadian, so the price you pay in the US will be less. This
large one is so great on furniture.
I stenciled it in white and then when it was dry, I sanded quite a bit off.
I want a chippy, rustic look. I stained over the paint with Early American Minwax stain, leaving the stain heavier on the edges and the bottom shelf.
A clear coat finished this cute, little, sunny table. It makes a great accent piece and a pop of color.
Very cute, love the sunny yellow color!

Thank you! I crave bright yellow this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteMy granddaughter would love this table! She's just redone her bedroom in yellow and gray.
