I recently picked up some chippy white picket fence pieces. These were just small scraps, the longest bit being about 24" long. I decided I wanted to make some type of shelf out of them. At first I thought I would make an open shelf with pickets in the back. But, then I decide to make a little door. From the door that I made, this fun, chippy, wall cabinet was born.
I made a face for the little door. I then used pallet wood to make two rectangle frames for the box part of the cabinet. I joined the two rectangular pallet frames together with some 1" x 1" boards that I placed in the middle of the box sides for the inside shelf brackets. I also joined them together in the top corners.
I used picket fence pieces for the inside shelf. Some weathered pallet boards added to the back of the wall cabinet finished the piece. Stain on the sides of the box and clear coat to adhere and save the lovely, chippy paint finished this fun project.
I added an eye hook closure to the door.
It is a perfectly chippy, farmhouse shelf that would work great in a variety places--the bathroom, a kitchen, in an entry, or in a wall grouping in the family room.
