12 Days of Christmas Day 7 Felt Forest

12 Days of Christmas Ideas

Decorating for Christmas is happening slowly around here. I like adding bits and pieces, new items and treasured favorites. Adding a bit of Christmas cheer to the windowsills in my sunroom was on the agenda today.

These felt trees have been around for a few years. I decide to try to make some and give them my own twist by cutting different shaped trees and grouping them together in a felt forest.

I used 8 squares of felt, four green and four cream to make five felt firs.
I cut a more rounded tree side and in doing so, I was able to use the opposite side for a different shaped tree.

I gathered some branches from the yard and hot glued the felt to the branch.

I glued a total of 12 felt pieces to each branch.

I then found a chunk of a fence post that was rough and drilled five random holes in it, not evenly spaced.

I added the trees, braking the branches to the height I wanted. If you know me, you know I don't like pattern so I didn't place the trees in alternating colors.

I hot glued a snowflake tree topper to each tree and sprinkled them with fake snow.

The trees aren't glued into the base so they will be easy to remove and store. They add a touch of outdoors to my sunroom space. The sun was setting as I was taking the pictures.

Thought I'd share with you tonight's backdrop for my new felt forest.
