Sunday Verses

Happy Sunday! So, what do you see in this photo? Believe it or not, in the right of it, behind the steam and fog, there is a large bison herd that you cannot see. Life is often times a lot like this picture-- there is so much going on behind the scenes, but we simply cannot see it. And not only can we not see it, we can't predict how it is all going to play out. It is during these times that we MUST hold onto our faith. We have to trust that God can see it all and He knows what is going to happen. It is never easy--really, pretty much NEVER, but trusting and hoping and being patient build our faith and make it stronger for the unseen life happenings ahead. This week find beauty in the fog and faith in the unknown!

12 Days of Christmas, Day 3, Candy Cane Holder

If you have followed my blog at all, you might remember that each Christmas I like to share a candy cane holder idea. This stems from a childhood memory of a little cardboard Santa's boot that we hung by the door to hold candy canes for visitors.

I have carried on this tradition, using different candy cane holders each year.  This year's is a simple printable decoupaged onto a jar.

12 Days of Christmas, Day 2, Faux Fireplace

After a busy week of getting things made for a Christmas show I sold at on Saturday, I am finally back with Day 2's project for my annual 12 Days of Christmas!

...and the stockings were hung by the chimney with care.  Wait, you don't have a chimney?  Neither do I, well not really.  i have a brick wall and chimney that lead to my basement wood stove (it was originally for the coal burning furnace that heated our old schoolhouse back in the day).  And I have a propane fireplace that is a modern metal tube (yech!) that has no mantel.  

So what is a good stockin' hangin' girl to do?? Why make one of course!

Sunday Verses

Happy Sunday! The sunset earlier in the week was stunning and I had to stop making dinner to go outside and snap a few photos. But, as I came back inside, I heard the gloom and doom and fear spewing from the evening news and I was reminded that as beautiful as our homes can be--they are temporary. I know we are anxious about the election, nervous and fearful about the future. And I think we absolutely need to pause and appreciate the small wonders around us like amazing sunsets. But, we also need to remember that this is not our permanent home and the things of this world are not enduring. Let's keep our focus on those things that will last forever.

12 Days of Christmas, Day 1, Pallet Barn Door

Hello and welcome to my 7th annual "12 Days of Christmas" posts.  Over the past seven years through the month of November (and sometimes into December) I have worked hard to bring my readers a dozen unique and DOABLE ideas to help personalize and celebrate the holidays.

These will not be 12 consecutive days of posts, but my goal is to always complete them in time for you to be able to recreate the ones that you like before the holiday rush.

And without further ado, 2016's first project is an easy "barn door" made from pallet wood.
