12 Days of Christmas, Day 12, Advent Calendar

Day 12, finally.  And day 12 is about counting down the final 12 days of Christmas.
Christmas countdown, advent, free printables, 12 days of Christmas,

Call it nostalgia or gripping to my final, almost 15 year old baby, but I decided that a little Christmas countdown calendar was necessary this year.
Not that my child can't count the days herself, but just because I miss some of the traditions from when I had three littles at home.

But, I did always find counting all 25 days of December a bit tiresome and let's face it, work for mom, so I chose a 12 day countdown calendar.

This project starts with the iron on transfer paper I used in Day 9's Project.  I bought it at Target but you can also get it HERE.
I created FREE Printables for the 12 days, 4 for page, in reverse for printing.
Each day has a different graphic and the days  'til Christmas on it.
After printing, I cut out each day (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") and ironed it onto a white 5" x 6 1/2" fabric rectangle.  I then cut out 12 rectangles this same size, from four different fabrics.
I cut the top edge with pinking shears and then sewed each little sack.

I ironed over the top edge.  IMPORTANT TIP--to iron over the transfer, you must use the transfer paper you peeled off.  After ironing, let it cool for a few minutes before peeling the paper off.
I filled each little sack with a bit of tissue paper and something small--a chocolate, $, ornaments, some inexpensive jewelry and then used clothespins to hang them on old wood hangers.
I hooked the hangers together and hung them from a ribbon on the back of our entry door.

I must say, the teenagers interest is peaked as she keeps checking this out and keeps asking when she can open the first one.
Tune in tomorrow for my full Christmas tour--I can't wait!

  1. I sit here and see all these cute crafts - and I think, I'm gonna do that, someday. I have some really old wooden hangers from when I was a kid. In fact, I believe they belonged to my mom,so they were really old - Probably from the 30's.

    You are very talented.

  2. These are adorable, Becky - I pinned it! :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate your kind words!
