I recently found these at the thrift store: XXL yard game pick-up sticks. I wasn't sure when I bought them if I was going to upcycle, repurpose them or use them for projects. But, soon project ideas started running through my head, so they won out over outdoor fun.
I loved the colors painted on them and decide to use 15 of them (3 of each color) to make a funky lamp.
This is a super simple project. You can use dowels that you paint if you can't find ginormous pick-up sticks. (affiliate link) You also need a light kit like this one >>> LIGHT KIT I like the braided cord on this light.
I put the light cord in the middle of the sticks and used 4 rubber bands wrapped around the top too secure the sticks together.
I hot glued a piece of a thrift store leather belt around the rubber bands.
Then, you simply set the sticks up where you want your lamp, playing and adjusting them to get the right distance between them.
I went for the exposed bulb look using a large, round edison bulb. But, you could use a regular light bulb and add a shade that attached to the light kit ring or to the light bulb.
Simple, funky, a little boho, and fun!
