Repurposed Candlestick

Raise your hand if you appreciate minimal decor and color post Christmas decorating. While I love color and decorate with plenty of it, there is just something about the calmness of white and black and grey and wood that I love in the winter. Perhaps it is because it matches the outdoors.

This simple, repurposed candlestick fits my winter decor mood perfectly.

This is also project eleven for my 12 Days of Christmas posts.

Repurposed Candlestick
I started with a simple, tin cup and wood candlestick from the thrift store. The cup had been previously painted black.

I stenciled the snowflake from Old Sign Stencils Christmas Crates stencil on the tin cup. Stenciling on a curved surface can be a bit of a challenge. Use painter's tape to hold the stencil in place. I also held the cup in my lap to keep it in place as I stenciled. I painted the candlestick with a couple coats of white paint and distressed it a bit when it was dry.

I drilled through the bottom of the cup and used a long screw to attach the tin cup to the candlestick. I made more repurposed candlesticks for Christmas gifts. I attached different tin pieces--jello molds, tins, etc. to candlesticks. I screwed the pieces together when I could, otherwise use good glue like Gorilla GLUE.

To complete my minimalist centerpiece, I set the candlestick on a tarnished silver tray, added some fake snow, and set the tray on a black and white towel.
