Make it Monday Embroidery Hoop Wall Art for Spring

Make It Monday Easy DIY Projects

I am playing with embroidery hoops from the thrift store again for today's easy DIY project.

These are the inside of the oval hoops that I used to make this hanging light for my sunroom (HERE). Using six of the oval hoops, one small round embroidery hoop, and some embroidery floss, I made a simple flower perfect for spring wall decor.

Keep reading to see how to make your own--it is super easy and takes an hour or less!
Use whatever sized embroidery hoops you want to create the flower the size of your choice. These are about 8" long. I could have used a bit larger circle hoop for the middle, but I didn't have one. Arrange the oval hoops in the flower shape and hot glue them to each other where they are touching. I did not glue the middle one.

I then used one skein of variegated embroidery floss to wrap around the hoop petals where they touch. I knotted the floss on the back and then wrapped it probably 20 times and then knotted it again on the back.

I then used yellow embroidery floss to attach the flower center circle to the petals. Because my hoop is a little small, I suspended it in the middle, using the floss to hold it in place. This is a simple flower. I like the touch of color with the wood hoops.

You could paint the hoops, use yarn to attach them, strips of colorful fabric to tie them together would be cute too. I hung this in my sunroom corner to replace the snowshoe sign I had hanging for winter (see it HERE). It would be cute on a front door, in a grouping of different sized embroidery hoop flowers, or even hanging outside on a chain--it would spin in the wind.
