Today's project was not on my list of 12 Days of Christmas Ideas, but when Funky Junk's Old Sign Stencils put out NEW stencils for the holidays, I had to play with them.
I chose to get the Christmas Decorations stencil because I could see lots of ways to use it--gift tags, wrapping paper, decorating pallet wood trees, making labels for Christmas storage, and oh so much more.

You can get the CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS STENCIL HERE.
I built a shallow crate out of pallet wood. I started by building a rectangle.
I added a plywood bottom.
I then stenciled the Christmas balls from the stencil around the sides. I taped the top of the ornament off first.
Next, I taped the ball part off. I first stenciled in a bronze color, but when I stained the box, you couldn't see it o I re-stenciled the ornament tops with black paint. I stenciled all aroud the box.
This box would be cute filled with ornaments under the tree, or on a porch in a display, or as a gift box. It also is a great place to store ornaments in the off season--simply wrap with plastic wrap to keep the dust out.
I love that with stencils you can pick the colors that work for you.
If you do not build, you can buy unfinished crates at the craft store and personalize them with stencils.
