I removed the glass and the gun cabinet innards and slapped some white, yellow, and blue paint on the cabinet. I added red over the top and used tape to take the paint off and distress it.
I then added shelves, some old tongue and groove boards painted yellow for the back, chicken wire where the glass was, and some fantastic yellow knobs. It sold within a couple of hours of being in the shop.
It looks great!! I just recently threw an old gun cabinet away!! DANG... bad blogger. bad blogger... I should have known -- Everything can become SOMETHING!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful...but every hunter in my family would have prefered it stay a gun cabinet.
ReplyDeleteBeing terrified of guns and never planning on owning one, I love what you've done with this cabinet!
ReplyDeleteLove that this sold so quickly! Of course the makeover you gave it added LOTS of character - no wonder it went so fast. Hoping I can find a really great (and cheap)gun cabinet or armoire or hutch/cabinet or such to use for storage in my daughter's room.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great cabinet, much prefer the latter! Great job, as always!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! It turned out great! Love the color combinations! You're going to have to demonstrate that tape technique! Sounds interesting!!
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing! I liked it the old way better. Guess I just like classic looks.
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic! I want your job! I've never used tape to take paint off...thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE the way it came out! I will keep my eye open for a gun cabinet from now on. I just love the color combination that you chose.
