Chalk This One Up To a Mistake

Remember the mirror I used for my hall tree?  I said it had been a mistake mirror, one that I had messed up while sanding the frame.  The mistake mirror was just right for the hall tree, and the frame was calling to become a chalkboard.
The piece of masonite that backed the mirror was perfect for chalkboard paint.
The frame had originally been painted black, which wasn't going to work with the black chalkboard paint.
Some fun turquoise paint, some sanding and stain made a mistake marvelous.
What have you made from a mistake?

  1. Ha! A mistake! lol Looks great now! I actually posted today about a mantel that I just fixed after making the mistake of painting it awful colors for my daughter's room. My life is full of them....nothing that a little paint won't fix! :)

  9. Love it! I made the same mistake last week! I painted over a pic that I thought was a print with chalkboard paint. After the first coat I realized it was an actual painting!! You could see the strokes through the chalkboard paint! So I turned it over and painted the other side, lol. Going to post mine soon! Love the green/teal frame.

  12. Hmmm, you got me thinking now. I don't know that I ever was on task enough to think of how to reuse a mistake, unless it was dinner! Decorating mistakes I probably just lived with, but that was before....... of course now when I have a opps, I'll be saying WWBD...."what would bloggers do?".
