Beyond The Picket Fence Style, what does that mean? I am not sure, although I know it means reclaimed wood and bright, happy colors. When I made a headboard bench a few weeks ago (HOW TO HERE) I forgot how fun and fairly simple they are to make.
So, I decided to make another one. But, because this one was not a special order, I could put my own twist on it (oh, which makes me so much happier). Here is what I came up with:
This is a twin headboard. I used a wider piece of wood for the apron. i didn't intend to put storage in it, but when I saw how chunky the apron looked, I know it need to become a storage bench.
I added a 1x2" rail or brace to the inside area of the bench and cut a piece of playwood for the bottom of the storage spot.
I hinged the lid to the bed posts.
The lid is made from reclaimed oak, painted in my colors. It is joined together with boatds in the inside.
This bench makes me smile--I love the added storage bonus and the bright colors with the white.
What an amazing bench!!!
