When a friend asked me to donate to a fundraiser for a local family whose son was born with heart complications. I said of course. I knew I wanted to make something Montana and I know how popular benches are so that is what I did.
I pieced the top together with three boards to get the size I wanted.
I used a wider, single board (OK, just started singing, "All the single ladies...") for the sides or legs. I attach these to a small 1" X 2" board and then screw it into the underside of the bench.
I add braces cut at 45 degree angles--these really make the bench sturdy. I painted Montana (I have been on the MT kick again!) on it, stained it and finished it with clear coat.
Hopefully it well sell for a decent price and help out the family in need.
That is so cool! Wish I could see a pic of the braces? I'm sure it will sell fast! Perfect piece - just the right size!
ReplyDeleteSo nice of you to do this. You are very kind.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bench. I'm sure it will sell for a very good price because that is something you cannot go wrong with. It looks like something a lot of people will like! Very nice of you to make that and donate it!
