12 Days of Christmas Day 9 Hot Cocoa Station

12 Days of Easy Christmas Ideas using thrift store finds

On the ninth day of Christmas
Beyond the Picket Fence gave to me,
A station for hot cocoa, coffee, and tea.

I am not sure who came up with hot cocoa and coffee stations, but I must say they are one of my favorite new traditions for the holidays and winter. They welcome family and guests and just say, "Stay and be cozy and enjoy."

I have been using an old drawer for mine, but decided I wanted something a bit smaller and not so obtrusive. A thrift store wood tray was the perfect item to hold and organize my hot drink goodies.

I painted this one red and then used various thrift store containers to hold the goodies. Check out the jars and other containers at the thrift store, there are always a myriad of them. The largest jar or canister holds the cocoa mix. I got it for $2 and it already had the chalkboard label on it.

I used a thrift store candy can mug to hold candy canes, and a tin from the thrift store to hold teabags.

I put marshmallows in another jar from the thrift store, but then found this cute, vintage snowman jar and decided to put the marshmallows in there instead. (My photos I took with the snowman jar had a golden glow from the late afternoon sun so I most of the photos show the first jar I was using.)

Caramel cocoa is in another jar. I tied a ribbon around my vanilla latte syrup and had a place for a few of my favorite mugs. The chalkboard is a thin piece of plywood that attaches to the wall with command adhesive strips.

A couple favorite mugs sit on the tray. My holiday dessert plates, collected over the years,  sit in the corner in a wood box from...yes, the thrift store.  FYI, I can be a bit of a germaphobe--anything that comes from the thrift store gets washed twice, once in the sink with hot water and soap and once in the dishwasher.

Create your own hot drink station with inexpensive finds from the thrift store and enjoy a cup of yum this Christmas!
