Rusted Flour Tin DIY

Oh, how I love throwing things into the fire--tin things that is! This time I put a Christmas popcorn tin with snowmen on it in the fire. This is what it looked like after it came out of the fire.

I then painted it white and rusted it in a tub with hydrogen peroxide and salt.

If you chose to purchase something through my link, I may receive a small compensation, BUT it cost you nothing extra 😉. ALSO, please note, prices for stencils that you see are in Canadian and convert to less in US dollars.)

The real charm comes from the FLOUR stencil from Old Sign Stencils (HERE).

I stenciled the flour and stone milled on one side and

the wheat and weight and stone milled on the lid.

I sand a little of the stencil off and then clear coat the whole thing. The inside is clear coated too so that the tin can be used, although I think I would use a plastic bag as well if I stored flour in it.  I love the rusty, crusty, farmhouse look!
